As all you B2B students know, the course can be completed at your own pace… but some of you ambitious badasses may have completed it on the “Hardcore” schedule which gets you to the final line in 30 days.
I’m curious, for those of you who went Hardcore mode -
How did it feel to do the course in 30 days? Did you feel rushed?
Did you feel you had time to process and digest everything you were learning?
Hi @JoshFossgreen , it’s been a while now, but I finished in 20 days. I don’t really think I’d recommend it, but I just couldn’t stop. The problem with learning everything so quickly is that it tends to disappear just as fast, but luckily you can always go back and redo something. That said i would buy Badass2Bandmember.
What would have been great after the course, and as I’ve mentioned before, is a few assignments where you record a video and get an assessment of your technique, etc. Maybe that could be a form of exam? We do help each other with comments on the 50 song challenge, but we’re not always good enough to give the right tips.
My feeling when I finished? Empty, hehe just kidding. I felt like I had gotten off to a good start and was ready to take on the 50 song challenge. I see it’s been extended to 100, so I guess I’ll just have to start again.
Hi Josh, it’s my plan to do in 30 days and currently making good progress. Been playing a year or so and guitar for many years but as self taught , learning the basics right will I hope allow real solid progress. It’s surprising , though probably not to you , that my technique sucked and I was doing so much in a less efficient way than I could have been. All the tips and advice so far have been great.
I definitely think I rushed it. The first half of the course was mostly remedial for me as a prior guitarist. I found that the quick pace did force some memory dumps on later things…
I remember being so excited to get to the Slap module and then being absolutely horrible with it! That almost tanked my enthusiasm but I moved on and have slowly improved my slap since then. The later Slap Challenge really helped with that.
I don’t think I would choose to do the course this way again. Maybe I’d extend it to like 75 days to see some better memory retention on items.
27 days of 3 lessons per day, 3 days of 2 lessons.
If you wish to follow the prepared checklist.
For the sake of sanity, and there being only 24 hours in a day, I’m doing just 1 lesson per day, albeit I’m 5 days ahead of that pace, but now in Module 5 I need to practice a bit (10 minutes) offline to get the line/fingering memorized. And the Harder workout is getting, well, harder.
So going forward, the 1 a day pace may be ditched for Getting it Right rather than Doing it Quick.

@JoshFossgreen, I definitely did not even consider doing the course in 30 days. Instead, I took a leisurely five months to work through it.
I came from decades of guitar playing, so a fretted instrument was familiar to me. I also knew music theory, so those portions of the course weren’t anything new.
My sole aim was to learn proper fingerstyle technique, so I took my time to get it down. Your instruction and lesson tuneage were spot on.
Hello Guys im Jack Im 40. just bought my bass 1 week ago. Yamaha TRB 304 and Fender 40 studio. This is my Third day and im in module 5. I think Guitarist can finish can Finish this
1-2 weeks. I need to slow down too. i was off 2 days and almost halfway now no skipping as day and night on top of family duties. Learning bass is way easier than playing the guitar. People can be expert in seconds ahaha ,you know the fret board already. I was force to buy this lesson as my son have a hard time playing a guitar. Too many guitarist in his group. So bass is the way to go ,than being stuck in computer games. I teach him later.
I did the course in “hardcore mode” about 3 years ago. I enjoyed it so much I couldn’t wait to do the next lesson. Like many of the responses here though I had previous guitar experience which helped me progress faster.
No, but I got away with it because I started working through the “50 songs” right away and was able to apply a lot of the concepts you taught like triads, syncopation, etc. I’d recognize something from the course and a little light bulb would go off.
I never looked back, and still look forward to my bass time every long commute home. Playing bass puts me in this zen space like nothing else and I’m truly thankful that I took the course.
Thanks… im loving and enjoying it. Less NBA live now at the moment. Its getting challenging reading the notes backwards and forwards. More practice and exposure should be good. Its my fourth day on the course. Its great.
How did it feel to do the course in 30 days? Did you feel rushed?
Somewhere around 35 days. No I’m retired. I would do a lesson most mornings and evenings.
Did you feel you had time to process and digest everything you were learning?
I caught on to some things quicker than others. The one big take away was how much more theory I understood over many years of guitar lessons.
How did you feel at the end about your progress?
I felt more confident than many years of guitar lessons.
I’m starting to revisit the course to see how I have improved and grasped the lessons. I really think it’s a great course.
I started the course last month intending to adhere to the hardcore schedule. Unfortunately poor internet connectivity (some days I’ll spend almost as much time refreshing my connection and reloading the bass buzz lesson page as I do playing) and my work schedule have made that unrealistic. I’m midway through module 12, and my 30 days will be up day after tomorrow.
Still, the time spent has been well worth it, and I look forward to finishing (and revisiting) the course material.
