at this point many of us might be Canadian in the next few years.
I know people doing that too. And some new Australian immigrants as well.
I recall news accounts going back more than a few years ago that many Americans traveling in Europe have told locals theyāre Canadian. Just made interactions easier and more pleasant in general.
If I wasnāt 2 years away from earning my pension, Iād be in Saskatchewan already.

Thatās one way to put it, yeah.
It was the most genteel way to put it.

Indeed
My wife (from Florida) has lived in the UK for 22 years, itās only recently that she has started claiming she is Canadian
Love the SP1. The white is hot. Wish I could get one of the Candy Green too

All of us US expats will probably start telling people weāre Canadian.
Hey, thatās what I should start doing. Locals hear my wonky French accent and ask āEnglish?ā. Iāve always replied āAmericanā. I spent plenty of time working in Canada, so maybe I could get away with it.
About 8-9 years ago I played a pvp tank game from a Russian developer, and if you got on a test server the Russian players would kill you for being an American even if you were on the same team.
I started putting Canadian flags on all my vehicles and no one bothered me. Itās also where I became a wombat but thatās another story

Youāll have no issue in Europe, being American.
We only bother you if you have a) āattitudeā or b) lack of education
British arenāt good with American accents unless itās Texan, New York or a Southern drawl. If you are assertive enough that youāre Canadian weāll just apologise for asking in the first place
To be fair, most Americans donāt realize that there are different regional English accents. Much less be able to tell the difference between them or be able to do a good Yorkshire accent.
My first IT job outta college I worked for a bit with a cantankerous brit ex-pat with a serious cockney accent. Sometimes I had a real problem understanding some of what he way saying!
Sorta back to the threadā¦not Dingwall but Fbass:

You wot? There are all kinds of English accents! RP, Indian, NZ, Australianā¦
*ducks*
I can interpret between NorCal, SoCal and Texan if anyone needs help. The nice thing about the PNW - no accent. Weāre like bland Canadians.

LOL, ya, we tend to get on peoples nerves with how nice and polite and shit we are.
Outside of BC, QC and ON maybe
Nobody like people for California either, so thereās that
