Dirty fret dots

Has anyone got a suggestion as to what I could use to clean the fret markers on the neck of my Warwick bass please?
They’re on the side of the neck and appear to be painted white

A lot of youtube luthiers keep naphtha and pencil erasure around for cleaning instruments. I’ve been using naphtha and it works well. I use it sparingly and put it on with a rag. Any excess seems to evaporate pretty fast. That might be too harsh if the dots are painted. You can try starting with pencil erasure and see if that helps.

I’ll give it a go @eric.kiser

I have tried the old painting restorers trick of spit and a cotton bud ( true story) but that was pretty much unsuccessful

I just use fine grits 1000 and up to clean a tiny layer off it. I did the same with the fingerboard on my MIM p bass. I have sandpapers that go all the way up to 12000. It’s like polishing.

Gogomyte works well too.

I’ll track some gorgamyte down and give it a try.
I’ve got some 10,000 grit sanding paper but the dots are slightly countersunk so it makes it a little difficult to get in there
