Eb Tuning

I am transcribing a new song (Long White Cadillac) and it’s in Eb. The first few notes are chugging along at Eb (lower than my open E on the E-string). Playing on a 4-string, do you all typically drop every string down a half step for this type of song (standard Eb tuning) or just drop the E-string and leave the rest in standard tuning? Last time I played a song a low Eb (Emmylou’s Wheels of Love) I just dropped the E, but this song (Long White Cadillac) is faster and I’m thinking the fingering may be easier if I drop them all. Thank you.

I tink I just answered my own question during the transcription. Dropped them all as the fingering is much easier…same pattern is repeated on the e-string and then the a-string, so it would be awkward to just drop the e-string a half step…

Sometimes if I’m feeling lazy I may not drop all four strings down if they aren’t all used in the song. In other words if you never use the G string in the song I might leave that one tuned to G instead of dropping it to Gb/F#.
