Electronics in the Harley Benton P Bass

Hello

Does anyone know of any Loaded Pickups that go on the Harley Benton? It’s working fine and I’ve set it up pretty well. I should probably get it Fret Levelled as there are definitely a few high frets but I don’t think it’s too bad.

One thing I do think though is that I remember a P Bass Tone Knob having a much wider range than this one does, so I thought about buying a loaded one. Any recommendations or am I looking for a Unicorn?

If you are not looking to do any soldering then EMG Geezer would be a good choice for passive, I think there’s enough room for battery under the pickguard for Active so you can go with their P as well.

EMG would offers some Punchy bass and very clear mid. They are about $100 give and take. If you go with Active there are some color options even metal covers.

You can go with other brands but most would require some soldering and wiring kit.

Sound is the cheapest upgrade to your bass. Look and feel is the most expensive.

Oooh. You mean these ones?

I mean, the pickups that came with it are fine, it’s just that the tone doesn’t seem to change much, which just feels odd to me. I wasn’t expecting the World with a Harley Benton P Bass but this sounds like it would be interesting

Which one do you own?
EMG GZR is a great choice. If have the space: go active (EMG active P)!

It’s the Harley Benton Kit Bass. This one in fact

I’m still amazed by the general quality. The pickups themselves are fine as well. I’ve been gigging on it. It’s just that I’d like the tone to be wider. It seems like it doesn’t do an awful lot

Maybe the capacitor is not soldered properly?
Can you make a pic of the tone knob, where the capacitor sits? Can you solder?

I’m a big Harley Benton fan myself, no worries

I can certainly do tomorrow. It’s NFL time!

I’m not great at Soldering but I’m willing to give it a go. If nothing else, I have a backup in that I could buy those up there!

Installing EMG’s is easy … and it WILL improve the tone. Also: modding is fun!
But personally, I would try to fix the tone knob first.

It’s very likely that the tone pot is not ok. In fact, I would ask Thomann support to send you a new one (= presoldered with capacitor) if I were you. Thomann is always very helpful, in case you have issues.

The Tone

I think that will work showing it. These are various photos of the pots
