My son has a whole Toby Fox playlist

I really like the Hawken soundtrack:

HAWKEN (Original Soundtrack) | Paper Sound

Might be a pedestrian answer but LOZ Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom music is absolutely gorgeous.

Side note, Charles Cornell on YouTube does breakdowns of some video game music and how complex some of the tunes are and it’s fascinating.

Final Fantasy XIV. It’s all good, and I have the soundtracks of every expansion on vinyl. Love this one from the latest expansion, Tom Morello did the music for the final boss fight of the current raid:

At the moment I have to say Hades. There are so many cool songs that push you through the level. But there are also many many songs with wonderful vocals with a lot of emotion to them. The composer also used meditearian instruments in combination with synths and theremine which lets the music stand out from a lot of other game soundtracks.
And the whole soundtrack (both games Hades and Hades 2) has a lot of very cool bass heavy parts. At the moment I´m trying to learn “Through Asphodel” but I´m punching above my weight limit here XD

You know what has an awesome soundtrack, Cyberpunk 2077 and its radio stations. The GTA series has a similar thing with the radio - Vice City won awards for it.

In terms of scoring, Nobuo Uematsu’s work on the Final Fantasy series is of course very famous and outstanding. Jesper Kyd has done great work in a number of games too, Borderlands 2 was a great example.

And the Castlevania series is of course famous for this.

Yep. Uematsu is hard to top. He is to games what Yoko Kanno is to anime.

…and if we are talking games with bands doing the soundtrack, there’s a clear top choice for me - the Wipeout series.

Rez is good too.

A few cute ones were PaRappa the Rapper, Samba de Amigo, and Jet Grind Radio.

My very favorite OST of all time is for an old Nintendo 64 game called Tetrisphere (Techno).

Also, not really an ost, but one of my absolute favorite bands is Poets of the Fall, a Finnish band whom I was introduced to via the Alan Wake games. They do a ton of music for Remedy Entertainment, from Max Payne to Control to Alan Wake, and they even portray characters in The Alan Wake games and have a fictional, in-game band called the Old Gods of Asgard.

Their stuff under their main gig is kind of modern alternative rock. Here’s my favorite as an example:

and their in-game Old Gods stuff is some seriously legit dad rock. There’s tons, but this one is my favorite

For me, the music in Expedition 33 blew me away . No idea what they are singing, but totally immersed myself in the game.

It’s still on deck for me, unplayed. Looking forward to it though.

Have you heard the soundtrack for Sleep Awake? The game and soundtrack were done by Robin Finck and boy does it sound like it (good thing).
