@SterlingShorty you are right and I’m wrong.
It’s the Debut Series bass from Squier at 34” scale length. I didn’t know it existed. I mean it’s a cheap bass, don’t expect much and it’ll probably be just fine to get going with.

Howdy Youngster, I’m hoping for a speedy recovery like yours. It will be great, when I can once again tune my guitars without hurting myself. I’ve been able to continue on with my “rewind” of this course, and was stoked when I could do the medium workout of “My Sharona”. Good luck with your musical journey.
Hi. I just joined Bass Buzz. I hope my posting is appropriate. I am 72 years old and I have bad arthritis in both hands. I am considering the Fender Squire Mini Precision Bass as my bass guitar to play in my church’s contemporary folk group. Is the mini a good bass for an adult with arthritis or is it a toy for kids and teenagers? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Brian
hey welcome. we have a long running thread here dedicated to short scale bass called short love, feel free to drop by. I have not ever tried the fender but it looks like a quality piece of gear. I play the similar kala solid body bass and it’s great, definitely not a toy or something made for children. as for playing it with arthritis, I’m not sure how much the shorter scale would help as it seems like the movement of the fingers would be the worst part of it and not the stretching part. that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t try a short scale and if it helps you then great! you should also know that there are many different sizes of short scale bass out there. take a look at something like the Ibanez mikro for something in between the bass you’re looking at and a full scale.
edit: I didn’t really scroll up through this thread and realized that most of this has already been said. but that’s okay and I’m not going to redo this whole post ![]()
Hey there. The Squier Mini PBASS is a good bass for all ages. I had this one for awhile and enjoyed it - it was quite fun to play and it had good build quality and sound for it’s price point.
