I will certainly go out and play both of these, and I have done some research on the differences. Since, the new Player II P-Bass has been released, the prior model seems to have gone down in price a little. For anyone has played both - Is the extra $ worth it for the Player II? Thanks.
I have a Player P and I’ve watched a couple videos on the II. The only thing I took away from those videos was that they have different colors available and the fret board edges are rolled a little more.
I’m planning on picking up a Player II Jazz in a few months. For me the deciding factor is the color options and the Rosewood fretboard. The rolled fretboard edges help. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the Player series, and it sounds like the Player II is all the good stuff from the Player plus the return of Rosewood, rolled fretboard edges and new colors (which I really dig).
I too like the new colors (the Yellow in particular). I’ll go play both and see if I think it is worth the extra $$$. Thanks,
Thanks for the input. Probably can’t go wrong either way.
Read they worked the pickups a little, too. Would take a player II.
Assuming you are getting a precision bass. They will have same but different bridge as well as the neck and pickups.
Personally, I’ll look for a used one. Fender P basses doesn’t change much and components upgrade are easy to find and pretty reasonable prices.
If you want new then, checkout Reverb, many of the new instruments are marked open box, or mint, but they are brand new. Big box stores are trying to off load the inventory and they have to get around the MAP prices.
That Coral Red with the Rosewood fingerboard looks enticing!
This is really good advice. Thank you. I am a guitar player just learning bass. So, I have 6 guitars and need to trade one in for a P-Bass. I haven’t had too much luck selling on my own, so a trade-in at Guitar Center (or similar) is pretty easy. I’ll keep looking and playing. Scott
PS - Just finished Module 10!
I’m torn between Hialeah Yellow and Birch Green.
Lots of ppl have the same issue so a trade is always interesting. I had some really good luck with trades in the past.
Same!
You just bought a second Bongo. You’re in time out @Tommydogg
Lol, I did look at it online, but considered (adulted) that I need to sell a couple before I buy another bass. I just need to stay away from a couple of couple fingers of scotch to get it out of my head!
As one vet to another, I’m trying to look out for you
I just took my Les Paul and trbx off my guitar rack and put them into their cases. Problem solved.
Aha, now you can just stick them under the spare bed where they will be ‘out of sight, out of mind’ enabling you to buy new ones with a completely clean conscious until you find them again in a few years.
Where are you? I’ve heard some of the good deal with trade in, which is unheard of for the most part.
My two favorite basses that I own are my Fender American Performer P bass and my Squier Classic Vibe 70s P bass. They both have SD quarter pounder pick ups and Fender Hi mass bridges. I like the Fender just a little bit better, but that’s probably because I paid $1,000 more for it. I enjoy playing only slightly more than my Squier and it has a Jazz pickup too, which makes it more versatile.
You are going to like what you like. Try before you buy. But not always worth it to pay more. Just my opinion from my dark corner over here.
you know for $650 you may want to consider the Made in Japan Aerodyne P bass as well. that one is a sure thing when it comes to build quality.
