Practice alternating, slowly. I generally use scales to a metronome for things like this. Be accurate with your fretting hand, and on time with you plucking hand. It’s just muscle memory. Once you build the good habits, the speed will follow. Patience and discipline is the way. Welcome to the best bass community in the universe.

as @fishmongerjoe aptly stated, slow it down and practice.

Be purposeful when playing a song and be ok messing up to force yourself to alternate.

Alternatively, use only the one finger - James Jamerson did and he is the most revered bassist of all time - so don’t fret it to much (lots of puns in that sentence).

Alternating is good but not always necessary. Many if not most pros do this without thinking, because that’s not what they are thinking about when they play the note, what finger do I use. :joy: You can improve that part by, like others said, practice slow and get your muscle memory in, once it’s imbedded you are there.

Another fun way is to start with your “other” finger this guarantee the alternation.

Here’s one of my hero playing the entire song with one finger.

Then he turned it up and use both fingers
