First Gig - all thanks to Beginner to Baddass

No it’s a couple of bars of root note rhythm followed by a couple of bars rest and some whole notes for the chorus.

I see my job as supporting the songs not adding to it unless it’s called for. This is definitely not a song that needs some busy bass fills imho.

I step back and relax for that song :sunglasses:

This guy is a little busier in the chorus than I am if you’re looking for ideas. But really he’s still just staying on the root.

Cool thanks I’ll check it out. Yea the chorus seems like it’s missing a note. It can’t get too busy but it sounds like another not or 2 would help.

@Barney - how the hell do you remember all that? I struggle with one at a time

Lol :joy: the very boring answer (which is true for lots of things) is practice.
I have a counter on iTunes for how many times a song has been played in full. Most of the older songs in our set list are multiples of hundreds. Not counting when I loop various parts of the song in Chordify to work on something.
It’s just repetition. But also when I was first doing the ‘post your covers’ I’d obsess over being note perfect.
Now I focus on the song structure and the lyrics so I can support the song and have the flexibility to adapt if we skip a verse etc.
99.99% of the audience don’t know the baseline. So as long as I’m in time, it’s all gravy. :sunglasses:
