Flatwounds for Squier Sonic Bronco

I’d really like to try, but I’ve read about folks getting sets where the silk parts were too long or the gauges too big for the nut.

Can anyone recommend a set of flats that will work on the Bronco right off the shelf for someone who is less experienced at changing bass strings?

Bass is one Squier Sonic Bronco.

Hi

I’m not familiar with a Bronco Bass but I believe they are a 30" scale length?? If so then the length of string is important you would want “short scale” type

Here is a link to a LaBella short scale Flatwound set

the Labella description listed says 32.5 ball end to silk
Is that good for your Bronco?

These are the flats I’m putting on my Bronco.

Still LaBella, but less stiff.

I use these, if link doesn’t work, D’Addario XL flats, ECB81S, short scale

If I’m measuring correctly, it is 31” from the ball end to the nut. I think that should work. I’ll see if they have these in stock at my local music store. If not, I know they have D’Addario ECB81S.

Either way, “ball end to silk” was the phrase/concept I needed to google, and now that i understand that, I’m more informed! So thank you!

Thanks! I know these are in stock at my local music store. May try if they don’t have the la Bella’s in stock.

No problem, I use these on both a sonic bronco and a pj mustang and they fit with no issue.

LaBella flats vs Daddario flats (Chromes) are a long way apart in touch and tone IMO

I like both but they certainly aren’t the same thing (despite both being flatwounds)

good luck.
