For a while I’ve been researching tools to record with. So many things to learn and options it was feeling overwhelming. Sharing this in case it helps anyone starting out… found this mini mixer that couples very easily with my computer. Using this, my bass and the app Moises, I can strip out song bass tracks, sub in myself, and record it so I can go back and learn. Also I can record into video to see fingering, posture, neck angle etc to improve form and technique. The mixer feeds into computer video channel (doesn’t edit video). The device is an Allen & Heath CQ 12T. Documentation is not very good but using chatGPT made set up super easy. Pretty reasonable price. Hope it helps

…ish, I found a pre-owned one at guitar center for about $150 less.
There were some others on Amazon that were a little less (e.g. Tascam Model 12, Mackie Onyx 12, Boss Gigcaster 8, Zoom L12, Rodecaster Pro). Did about a month of YouTube research and this seemed most geared to music and easy to use. Not saying $900 is cheap… just reasonable for an investment after playing for over a year and deciding it’s a long term thing.
