That’s now how many FREE accurate bass transcriptions (in standard notation) are available on my website.

This includes 57 new ones added today - 25 improved versions of existing charts, and 32 brand new transcriptions.

A handful of newly transcribed charts added to the site.

The highlight undoubtedly being Stevie Wonder’s “Lately”. This was actually played by Stevie himself on keyboard bass for the classic 1980 “Hotter Than July” album, and I have transcribed exactly what he played.

There are actually two basslines going on in three sections. The main one dips into 5-string territory with a low Eb, but the high melodic bassline goes beyond the top Eb note on a standard 4 or 5-string bass! So it would require a 6-string fretless for a sole human bassist to carry this part off in one take!

My main project recently has been preparing for a series of UK tour dates with the “A Vision Of Elvis” show. Coincidentally, before this I had a last minute dep with a different Elvis show.

The charts added to the website are NOT the ones for the show arrangements. My process is to start by transcribing the original bassline from the original recording, then edit to match the key / style / arrangement etc for the actual show I’ll be doing. The charts shared here are those transcribed from the “record” at that initial stage.
