Fretting/thumb placement question

Hi question when i am changing fretting positions like going from first fret e string down to 7th fret same string should my resting thumb slide against the back of the neck or should i take it off to change to next position? I really love the lessons so far. Before getting these lessons i was trying to learn bass from playing tabs using a pick and now i’m learning more while getting used to using my fingers instead of a pic.

Slide your thumb. It is the way.

And you’ll know your fretting technique is good, loose, relaxed and flexible if you can slide easily and you’re not getting stuck in a vice grip.

Hmmmm, I am currently painting a bass green and having issues- this may be the solution.

thank you for the reply. And everyone else too appreciate it. Got to break this bad habit of just taking thumb off when moving to another position.
