The Meters kill.

Always loved the Neville Brothers and went to every one of their concerts within 100 light years of wherever I was at the time.

But when I stumbled upon the Meters playing a stage at the New Orleans Jazz Festival back in the day, their funk wasn’t just hot; it was lava.

@JoshFossgreen : Truely an almost unforgivable crime. But it’s fine if you make amends wearing one of jamiroquai silly hat on your next video. (considering your crime, I’m being merciful)

Apart from that, I wouldn’t know how to pick the funkiest basslines, but maybe we could look into …

… and Larry Graham (and Graham Central Station), and Bootsy Collins, and … well, I will stop there since once I start, I have a really hard time to stop ranting about funk ^^´
