Actually not all minis are easy to upgrade the RAM on. At all. it varies by model.
Specifically the RAM in the late 2014 model you are looking at is soldered on and cannot be upgraded.

A.
Can you trll if either of the two I posted a ove are earl oy Late 2014.
I beleive from my limited research, they are at least mid 2014, but would be very happy to find them to be late 2014.
Actually searching for uear models for late 2015 later modeld, easily adds $300.
i would lobe to rock tjat one for $240 and be done with it.
Tje model
Mggellem2A or something like that.
Thanks again
AActually, the small amount of RAM is not a big deal. If you have a good SSD drive, this is more than OK. Mac OS paginates like mad, so what you need is a fast, large SSD drive that you can keep at least 50% empty at all times. Due to the access speed on the disk, this is effectively gigs upon gigs of RAM due to the way MacOS uses page files.
Those are both late 2014 minis, yeah.
MGEM2LL/A is Late 2014.
Hey Everyone,
What is your opinion of this?

I’m getting ready for my lengthy stay in Hawaii and this is available on the island. I’m looking to pick up something while out there and this may work. Any thoughts?
The Soundgear body and neck haven’t changed much over the past 30 years. Neck is fast. Good line of basses. I haven’t played the 400 but have the 300, 600, and 805. And a 500.
I like it
Is that the one you intend to leave in a locker on the island for when you return?
I don’t think you can go wrong with this bass (and at this price level) for general practicing and perhaps recording a cover every now and then! You might end up bringing it with you anyways
That is really a beauty!
I have been trying to figure out why I do not like Ibanez and other basses like this.
It think I am now used to the ‘bigger body’ basses and tend to like them better feel etc.
Just feels like you have a good chunk-o-bass on your side.
Yes, exactly.
I hope it is still available when I get there.
Can you put a deposit on it? I’ve done that before with GC, so I wouldn’t drive 3 hours to the store just to find it’s gone.
It’s not GC, it’s a local music store on island.
I would ask. Tell them you will put 100% down and pick it up in a bit
I really like the feel of the SR’s I have tried (primarily the SR500 and SR2400). Very similar to my TRBX.
The SRs are really nice to play and the ones I’ve tried have been light on the shoulder too.
Still play my SR regularly
I had a SR 400QM
QM is quilted maple top.
It was a beautiful bass, and it played nice. The tonal range was not excellent, but it sounded OK.
It did clip most of my amps with the bass turned to full boost.
It was a beautiful bass, and I liked it a lot at first.
Over time I personally grew away from the Ibanez basses, I just didnt really love the EQ, and tonal range, and after finding other basses I liked, I found I like a thicker profile on the neck, and Ibanez SR are one of the thinnest necks around (that I know of) which is a reason to either love them, or not love them.
Either way, they are hard to hate.
Unless you really dont like Jazz necks, and need that extra mass in the neck.
Some tjat love huge baseball bat necks like the old P basses (1.75 at the nut) or even a modern Stingray (1.69 at the nut) might not like the SR neck, and find it cramped with string spacing too close, but from what I gather, most people are not like that.
Personally, I like a Jazz neck, bit have started appreciating thicker necks as I get more experienced with the instrument.
Overall, probably a good choice for your Island stay, unless you find others you like better.
Thank you all for your insight. When I get there I’ll check out the feel and the sound. I wanted to be sure that it wasn’t a lemon to begin with.
