Stringjoy just released coated acoustic strings and seem to feel they have done coated strings differently/better than the rest. Now I’m curious if/when they will do this for bass strings

Basically, instead of dipping a string that’s already made, they dipped the wrap first and then made a string with it iirc, saying that dipping a made string is similar to building up gunk between the windings.

Interesting. I’d give it a try

Fishman basically told me to get rekt on the pickups XD

“We don’t sell direct to customers. This is why it redirects you to a dealer.”

Except that is total bullshit :woman_shrugging:t2: I can add the black ones to my cart on their site, and all their dealers I can find only sell the black ones. I was inquiring about the white ones… I guess I’ll poke Sweetwater and/or zZounds to see if they can order them for me.

Annoying.

I swear I hate dealing with a company’s customer support so much lol, especially when it’s clear they didn’t read or maybe just didn’t understand my request…

They have done similar for me on things not listed.

I don’t know if it counts. But tomorrow I have surgery and I will acquire ( ) a couple of rods, bolts, and plates so my shoulder stays in place. In a week or two, I hope so, I will finally be able to play bass again. (Not like now, when the only strings I am able to hold without my shoulder popping out are D and G) I hope everything will go according to plan and … I will be again more active here.

See you, gang!

Well, the Joyo JF-10 compressor works well, and doesn’t introduce noise into the audio that I can tell. But I’m also using the Direct Out of my B7K now, which is a big improvement, too.

I guess I worried for nothing as it only has Sustain, Attack, and Level knobs, ie Release, Attack, and makeup gain. I’m happy enough to have those three controls, and $38 was worth the test.

I was also looking at a $75-80 optical from… JanSune I think? But reviews said it rolled off bass frequencies so I noped out of that one. The CoolMusic compressor ($35) seem to add noise, or the video I watched already had a ton of noise in his signal and it was just amplified. Either way, noped out of that one, too XD

I thought my “smol pedalboard” would be modular-ish because velcro, but it’s a pita to remove pedals from it lol, so for now I’m just leaving it as-is. ST-300 Mini tuner, Joyo JF-10 compressor, CoolMusic Insane distortion, Darkglass B7K preamp. If I did anything it would be to move the tuner off the board so I could add a wider Darkglass Ultra-sized pedal, or get a slightly wider 18-20" pedalrboard (the Nano is 14" wide). But since it’s eventually going to be a backup for an all-inclusive amp (the Darkglass Exponent 500) I’m not too worried; I think it’s done for now.

I also like the idea of buying a pedalboard large enough for my few pedals and whatever preset-switching footswitch Darkglass releases for the Exponent.

Edit Oh yeah, and the Joyo doesn’t make a godawful loud af CLACK! through the speakers when pressing the switch like some cheap compressors can do :eyes: (I’ve read/seen on YouTube)

You only need a tuner and footswitches with the Exponent. You can already use a midi footswitch. I got the Morningstar MC-3 but the 6 would make more sense.

@T_dub speaks highly about this one though. Personally I love my Cali76 comp which costed me a few ribs :joy:

I’m aware of using a MIDI footswitch; I research things I want to death. It even plugs into the same DIN socket. I still want to see their option, as I like matching things (though I’d probably still buy a Barefaced 2x12 over the Darkglass one), and my current MIDI footswitch is HEAVY AF :joy: (Pacer Nektar, selling my Line 6 HD500X)

And you don’t need a tuner, it has that, too, though you have to read the mystic tuner code of the front LEDs when the tuner is activated.

Would be kinda cool if it worked with a Bluetooth MIDI controller (since it connects to phones via Bluetooth already). I really hope it has enough switches for the 5 presets, as well as an effects loop on/off. I will be a little disappointed if there is no FX loop on/off, tbh.

Hmm. I might revisit it, but probably not. If it wasn’t for the Exponent I’d probably get a much more expensive/nicer compressor like the Pulp N Peel V4(.5), Cali76, etc

I saw someone using it in conjunction with their HX Stomp. I thought it would be interesting to see how a Cali 76 comp pedal would be as opposed to using the ones within the stomp.
So I looked at the price on Reverb last night. Well ………I think the ones built into the Stomp are just great :flushed:

Now that I think about it, I can see Darkglass putting out a several hundred dollar footswitch that selects presets, and also turns individual effects on/off, etc, so it’ll probably be huge, and thus I’ll be carting around a big as floorboard anyway
