@wellbi Did you ever make the move to US that you had planned?
I seem to remember something avout a dream job being involved.

Yep, it was a job in North Carolina. Everything was in motion and then I got almost crushed by a falling hydraulic press while moving my friend’s workshop. (I think I mentioned it here.) Bolts in my arm, steel plate still to this date in my shoulder, etc. So we canceled it. I will probably look for a job in the US in the future, but tbh. after watching what’s going on now, I will wait for a couple of years until you guys solve some crazy stuff. (No offense.)
I think I must have missed that. I hope you’re recovering well.
None taken. The US tends to wear all of its problems right out in the open. If your waiting for the crazy to stop, you might be out of luck. I don’t think I’ve known a time that didn’t have some crazy going on. ![]()
Oh wow!
I did too!
@wellb I’m glad you’re still with us and I hope you’ve had a full recovery!
Ahh, yeah, ok. Cool. The B1four is superior to the MS-60B and MS-70CDR in every way but one; it’s a later generation with a better processor and updated and improved effects.
But the form factor of the MS-60B and -70CDR is just so good, a normal metal pedal enclosure. I wish they made an updated one with the B6’s effects and processor.
It’s ok now. I just can really feel the shoulder blade and the back of my shoulder when there’s a huge jump in weather. And there is a sleeping position that guarantees me the need for 20, 30 minutes of stretching in the morning. Other than that I would call it a full recovery.
It’s the same everywhere, I guess. It’s just that I know quite a few Americans from a different community and we had a reunion couple of months back and people with different opinions went absolutely ballistic at each other there. It kind of spooked me out a bit. I will just wait and see.
Yeah it’s why we steer clear of politics here. We get enough of that elsewhere.
One of the best rules there can be in any community today. It’s so tiring and divisive.
Tbh. I am more and more thinking that I will just buy SansAmp and stick with it. It pretty much lives on my B1 permanently and I really like the sound.
Check out the Tech21 VT Bass DI! Fantastic preamp. Like the regular sansamp but with even more tube-like tone.
You can also grab a Behringer BDI-21 for like $35, it’s a clone of the first edition SansAmp and sounds literally identical.
Oh, It actually costs exactly the same as the TECH 21 Bass Driver D.I. V.2 I had in mind. I will A/B them in the store and decide. But doesn’t that tube one has that characteristic tube “muffle” on the top end? I kind of like those upper frequencies of SansAmp.
It’s not actually a tube preamp - it’s solid state, just with kind of warmer tone. I liked mine a lot.
I don’t have one, but from everything I’ve read and all the videos I’ve watched about the VT Bass DI, this shouldn’t be a problem. There is a top end boost that’s part of the VT sound. They even put a BITE button on it to get rid of that if you don’t like it.
There are others around here that can verify. I know @PamPurrs has owned a Bass Driver clone and currently uses the VT Bass DI.
Edit: Or just go with what @howard said. I think he was the one responsible for so many people here owning one. He posted while I was writing this.
It’s a truly awesome preamp, my second favorite I owned.
Too bad you fried it 🫣
I did an A/B with the Behringer BDI-21 and Tech 21 Bass Driver DI V2. Somehow I got more pleasing tones out of the BDI (less controls, easier to dial in), but you can get a lot more tones with the Bass Driver. The extra mid controls make a huge difference.
I KNOW. So pissed. Though I would have sold it by now anyway.
I have the Sansamp SH-1 Steve Harris stompbox. Really great take on the Sansamp theme.
Wasn’t someone on B2B also looking at the Geddy Lee one as well?
I’ve lost many many friends in the last few years so to this craziness. Sad times.
Basic inability to accept that someone else may have an opinion radically different to one’s own, and that this opinion is every bit as valid.
Yep, and that is why they are goners.
I have still have several close friends with wildly differing opinons than mine but they know how to remain civil, and I love them dearly.
I was done with drama a long time ago.
