GAS - Gear Acquisition Syndrome (Part 1)

Already working on the repeat, uh?
That’s an early lead for “best troll 2023”

haha, this is for sax.
It goes with the other 3 different mics I already have.
I really want to start sitting in with a band here and there to play some sax parts, need a cheap mic for that, this is the ticket

Yeah, sorry. Seems I just can’t help myself

Cool! What’s the story there? Did they ask you to play with them, are you auditioning or something?

Kinda but no. But yes. I’ve had a standing invite pre COVID for a few solos in tunes with a buddy’s band but then, COVID. And he hasn’t been playing anywhere now so unsure. But it’s high time I start looking too lol

Excellent choice! Great instrument mic. Can’t beat the build quality or solidity of the things. Nice price too, wow.

Good deal! I’ve been meaning to buy one.

My SM58 is the third mic I went through and I wish I had just gone straight to it. You won’t regret a 57 or 58.

Dark Glass B3K or Aguilar Agro? Anyone own or tried both? From what I hear online, I am gravitating towards B3K. I think it will fit in my stocking.

FWIW I had the B3K and in a blink of an eye sold it for the B7K, which, is something that will never get sold, it is awesomeness.

I took 5 guitar pedals and an amp in to GC to sell today. They had a bunch of people call out and couldn’t take the time to purchase them from me. For the second day in a row. I’ll be trying a different store during the week. So in my frustration I purchased this Zoom! It’s better than my old coping mechanisms. Trust me. Lol. Found a good clean Tweed Bassman setting in it that I’m going to gig out with 6 string bass tomorrow night. Dave Simpson likes them so I’m sure there’s lots I can dig in and find in there.

Selling instruments back to a store is more uncommon here. I know some local shops sell a bit of used gear but usually those are premium or boutique items. Won’t you get more cash via a local marketplace?

Never seen that Zoom. Looks like a fun item!

I’ve had some pieces listed but this time of year it’s all people offering too low. That 6 string Ibanez is listed with fresh strings, setup, fret wrap and a gig bag and nobody has offered higher than 200 bucks. The pedals I listed haven’t even had offers even though there’s a lot of views on each one. Was just going to turn it into store credit anyways. I’ve got a few zoom pedals and they always surprise me. I feel like the tones are more “natural” than some of my line 6 stuff but I do like the line 6 interface better. But for an all in one or just because pedal, Zoom stuff is really hard to beat.

Did you end up getting the B7K v2 or the ultra? Initially I wasn’t considering the B7K because I already have a VT Bass DI, but I don’t think that matters too much if I add a DG to my board, as one won’t replace the other.

The ultra.
I have the VT bass di as well and go back and forth all the time. They are both very very different and awesome.

The Agro, to me, seems like it was designed to sit really well “in the mix” but doesn’t have a lot of versatility outside of that. What sounds good in the mix doesn’t always sound good when your playing alone. For that reason, I would go with a more versatile pedal.

That’s really nice!
Unless you already own a Stingray, it doesn’t qualify as GAS does it?

GAS is about to get me again, I think. I love my Warmoth 54P. The same guy just built a Warmoth 51P with slightly different parts and it is priced cheaper than the 54P I already have. Good Lord, I may pull the trigger again unless it get’s sold before I get approval from my long suffering little wife. What do you think about this build?

I like the way you think!

Buy it, have it shipped to your office, be done. Your significant other will never know the difference between basses.

You know it will just kill you if you don’t. :smiling_imp:
