Aren’t the Norstrand Big Man and Big Blade both technically double J’s?
I have a Tone Capsule on my Dark Queen; really sounds nice. It’s a Charvel PJ
MEC do an active twin-J that sounds superb.
I have no idea whether it’ll fit the Fender cavity though.
Just posting this for a giggle.
This was my rig when I joined Bassbuzz back in 2021.
And this is it now, 20 months later.
This thread is dangerous!
Seriously though, I’m thoroughly enjoying this musical journey and I’m doing things that I really didn’t think I’d be able to do. That’s primarily down to Bassbuzz, not just @JoshFossgreen but all the other contributing members of this forum. You guys and Gals rock!
But still no rug?
Same strap. Points for loyalty, restraint, continuity, and knowing what works for you.
I wanna point this out too.
well that’s what’s interesting
GAS related question, Does anyone know how what % import duties are when shipping something from Canada to the US?
Edit: I found the answer
Aguilar has new pedals!
Well, kind of. All the same electronics in new enclosures with new paint jobs and the option of battery power removed. But still the same price.
These changes look like cost saving measures but I do like the look of the new pedals.
I would buy a Chorusaurus simply because of it’s cool name. Seriously though, I also like the new paint jobs!
Agro for me.
I’ve always been partial to a bit of agro
I have bad GAS! My wife is gonna kill me. I bought this Carvin BK-5 this past weekend. I have recently posted where I bought a Warwick and an Amp in the last month or so. I now have to sell my Jackson. Below is the Carvin.
I just recently purchased an Ampeg SCR-DI.
See, the thing is…my practice amp is an Ampeg, and when I’m playing through my audio interface, to do the B2B lessons, I wasn’t getting the same tone, and I really like that Ampeg sound. Also, it’s got an AUX-in (with volume control) and a headphone out. It also can operate on a 9V battery, so it makes a great travel practice amp. Plus, my local Guitar Center had it on the shelf for $245. I HAD to buy it. Really…I had to buy it.
Hi. My name is cool cat and I thought I’d beat my GAS into remission.
It started so innocently. In 2005, I showed up at home on a wed night with a gig bag. Wife: “CC, what’s that in your hand?” Me: “an electric guitar”. Wife: “okay, WHY is there an electric guitar in your hand?” Me: “because I own it…”. Wife: “uh, huh. And why is it you own an electric guitar?” Me:” because I am going to learn how to play it”.
Over next five years I spent another $250 on pickups (two sets), bridge, I forget what else on that mim strat. Then I bought an agile LP clone, the nice one with 3/4” of flame maple over a one piece mahogany body, set neck and bound ebony fretboard, two more sets of pickups for that (including $300 worth of Lindy Fralins), a tech21 amp, then I veered off into designing and building tube amps (four or five), my own speaker cabs, lots of pedals. Then a decent acoustic guitar, then finally a Gibson SGJ. I bonded with that one. Then nothing at all for a decade. Phew.
First week of January. Big box on doorstep. Says “fender”. Wife: “big box”. Me “yep”. Wife: “how much?” Me: $200. Her: oh.
Two days later: longer box. Says Ibanez. Wife: “??”. Me: “Bass”. Wife rolls eyes, goes for another cup of coffee. A little while later, plugged in, playing the lovely simple intro to Summertime Rolls, she comes for a look. “Nice”. “How far over $700 was that?” I chuckle. “Half that.” SR300e. It does look like it could be $700. Mines “iron pewter” which is a horrible name for such a beautiful finish. I’ve left it out on a stand in indirect sunlight , the jatoba fretboard darkened really fast, now looks like rosewood. Sweet.
My problem is tone related. I spent so much time chasing tone I really short changed my guitar playing skills. (But the amp design and building was its own fun). I’d hoped that (between rumble 40 + sr300e) four gimmick switches and 7 active tone controls would give me enough to fiddle with. I am determined to keep focused on playing!
Almost.
I’m wondering if I should have bought a bb 234 instead. I love that p pickup sound. I’m still inside my 45 day return window (zzounds)… it’s tempting to Amazon a 234 just to take a test drive… but I really should resist. The Ibby is ergonomically excellent, plays great, feels great, has perfect intonation and I like how it sounds (but it isn’t a p bass!)… so even if I fall in love with the bb, I can already see where this is going :-).
Help me resist…
Your plea is futile! LOL
My advice is to get what you really want now, specially still being inside the return window. It will turn out cheaper in the long run.
Bwa Ha Ha!
That’s not what we do in this thread.
If GAS was the Force (from Star Wars), BassBuzz firmly sits on the Dark Side.
“Yes, yes, give in to your GAS. Forever will it dominate your soul.”
It’s also a bit of the Borg (from Star Trek).
“Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.”
In short, you’re doomed. You’ll find no help resisting here.
That said, I love me some Ibanez basses. I’ve had an SR300, an SR500, and an SR700. All absolutely great instruments, and I love their look and feel. I wholeheartedly wish I still had one.
But yeah, you won’t get a “P” sound out of an Ibanez… at least not the traditional SoundGear Ibanezeses.
My “advice” to you? Keep the Ibanez - you’ll miss it later - and get a “P” as well, be it a BB 234 or whatever other “P” appeals to you.
…
Let us complete your training in the Dark Side of the GAS.
This thread is for GASaholics and enablers only.
Which I need to resist. Did my taxes over the weekend and Uncle Sam has accepted my return and now waiting on the return, which should be here around President’s Day sales. Oy vey
