GAS - Gear Acquisition Syndrome (Part 1)

And there are so many shades, some almost look like a burnt match stick, then some I kind of scratch my head and go 'Really, thats roasted, it is not even lightly toasted"
Some of the SBMM roasted maple necks on the Natural Ash Ray34, are darker then like Koa wood, or wengay (spelling?) or what is that one that Warwick uses alot of Bubinga or something?

Reminds me of Duce Bigelow the movie.
His dad who cleans toilets, talking about his mom, “Blow Job Betty, quite a gal, her mouth paid for our whole honeymoon”
And the girlfriend brings him back that birthday cake and says you didn’t blow out your candle.
He gets up from like FIGHT PLUNGING a toilet with no gloves on and blows it out, grabs a big scoop of the cake and throws it in his mouth, and says “now thats good babinga”

Anyway, yeah, somebody needs to make a shade guide for it and have the people roasting it, follow some sort of guideline andkeep it all sort of on the same level or “Roasted”

Hey @terb these Noir P-Basses look pretty badass…

Click through to the picture to see the subtle red trim. Looks amazing.

Good Lord this thing looks and plays even better than I expected.

Just under $1k though, and they will get it. A bit outside my range.

I am sold on the SBV line though. What a great feeling and sounding bass.

Red Aerodyne is not bad either.

My TECH21 VT BASS DI arrived today. It fits right in and adds some great tone to my bass.

Well, didn’t end up buying anything. I went back to look at the SBV-550 two more times but just couldn’t drop a grand on it.

Is this where you’re taking me shopping to when I get back to Tokyo Howard @howard:grin::grin::grin:

So Jealous of you. If ever I can just find one used for sale around $100, I am all over it. Even if its not the Bass DI version, even if it if just the smaller pedal, I want it. I just don’t have the $200 plus clams to pay for a new one. Oh how I want one of those, so, so, so cool. Been looking for a long long long time.
The one time they had this.
I had $100 cash, and my daughter had no money in her account to cover it, and we had no way to get to her bank to put the money in.

(I don’t drive right now, cuz of illness and meds I take that I shouldn’t drive on, and she doesn’t have a license yet, plus her leg is having some issues, and has been rejecting the prosthetic (the last 3), so she has much more CURING. type healing to do, make sure everything is 100%, completely bone try before trying to walk on it, like cement, must be fully dry before she can walk on it. (I am making a comparison of drying cement to her healing, she doesn’t really need to DRY per say, but she needs so fully, completely heal inside before she trys to use prosthetic again, or it will causes even more dammage and equal more surgery, and possibly amputation above her knee, and that is the last thing we want)

IDK why I had to go into that rampage, just the things that we go thru these days. But we couldn’t drive to the bank and put the cash I had in, so I lost out on this one, and I was very bummed. Of course I prefer the full sized one, but this one would do just fine (not when sold new for the same price as the other one, but when they go for $90 or lower)

Even this would maybe work if I could get her the money in her bank, but again, it was gone the day after I noticed it.
They go fast

Man, I have zero luck with this pedal.
I would be OK with the Markbass Distorsore
or EBS Valve Drive too, for slightly different reasons, but those are on m list, in order, and which ever i get on the bottom 2 first, the other one I will hold off on.
Just sucks when I don’t have cards to pay for things right now, due to long term disability, and can only get something if I can make it work with my daughter and her card for now.
Oh well, Life goes on…

It’s really funny because I really wanted to get back down to one bass, and I did, and was happy, and now the sirens are calling again.

It’s that itch. I have the same thing. Sometimes I just wanna start at zero and sometimes I just need to satisfy my GAS

I mean…

if it had been $150 cheaper I’d own it now

Oh that reminds me, the ESP custom shop had one of the Gretsch Billy-Bo Jupiter’s. They look even cooler in real life.

For a sec I thought this was @terb playing the SBV

Really digging the looks of that bass. That headstock goes really well with the unique shape of the body. I would say this has to be my favourite model from all the recent Yamaha basses I have seen so far.

These are not recent basses - they were made in the '90s and reissued in the 2000s.

And ask Laurent if that’s him
