Just another of several Vox AC30 products (I believe it has the electronics of this inside hence the name)
Wow, just really cashing in on that I guess.
Kind of sad.
Here’s the history of the real deal:
New P style Bass from Sire. Anyone own / played a Sire Bass. Seems pretty well spec’d for the price.
I will have a Sire V7 next week. They’re made from really nice materials; real bone nut, steel bridge. Everything looks to be top quality, and I say looks because I haven’t laid my hands on one yet. 5 more days.
They’re good value for the money.
I have M2. The build is good even in the 300$ range. Their rolled fretboard isn’t my thing as I found out. The amp is great, but! at least on my lower model Sire, the two double, concentric knobs are really “sticky”, so when you manipulate for example inner knob (gain) you have to hold outside knob (frequency) in place with other hand. … overall, it’s good for the price … but, I play mainly my Squier because of the rolled fretboard and passive tone on Squier is so much more meaty than passive Sire.
And by meaty I mean that when you dial approximately the same passive tone on both basses. You can clearly hear the difference in mass between classic P-Bass build and quite tiny M2.
That’s not uncommon with stacked knobs.
Usually, it’s not the pots that drag, It’s the knobs themselves that interfere with each other.
Loosen the upper knob, raise it 1mm and re-tighten.
Try to keep the knobs level as you tighten them.
That sorted my Classic Vibe Jaguar.
The AC30 is the one I just got from Musician’s Friend on Monday. The beauty of it is that you can plug headphones and an aux into it so I can hear both the bass and my lessons.
My wonderful wife must have been listening to my moaning about not being able to record my playing and has just told me she’s ordered a Behringer UM2 U-phoria and hopes it will be good enough!
Win, win
Definitely good enough. Tbh. I accepted, not so long ago, Behringer for what it is. A huge corporate with the ability to deliver quite outstanding value for the price. So now I am waiting for a few synths and octo-pre by Behringer. I still wouldn’t buy things like controllers and … things where design and handling is really the centerpiece, but audio chain with Behringer? Why not.
I basically love them, despite Uli.
How is it (AC30 guitar model) working with your bass? I ask because Vox makes about six or seven varieties of their Amplug 2, specifically for low frequencies in their Bass model, which is the one I got.
Yeah. He is an issue for me too. He’s narcissistic asshole, or at least that’s how he always presented himself. And my second issue with Behringer is that their path to today’s state was simply through stealing IP of others. … but, I have put aside 1500$ for Behringer CS80 clone. That’s what Behringer is atm. company that enables almost anyone experience audio hardware at decent level for an affordable price. I love Yamaha CS80, but I will never be able to afford one. Behringer know it and hopefully they will clone it sooner rather than later. And it’s the same with almost anything Behringer do. Credit where credit is due.
Who or what is an Uli?
Uli Behringer, owner of MusicTribe corporation and … let’s say that he has created an empire and the fact he is the owner of that empire makes a lot of customers to have a hard time feeling right when buying products by that empire. Just because of Uli and his persona.
It looks just like the one @howard posted above. There’s some hiss but it’s not noticeable once @JoshFossgreen starts a lesson. I have him and the bass turned up enough to hide it.
Isn’t that supposed to be very comfortable? What did you not like about it?
Following some advice from someone I respect, I’ve decided to give a 34” bass a try.
On its way next week the new P5 from Sire. We shall see what US$499 gets me. Roasted maple neck for starters seems a nice touch.
Looks like a nice bass. Roasted Maple neck for $500 - she’s a winner
