GAS - Gear Acquisition Syndrome (Part 1)

Nice buy @Barney
I must get myself one of those roasted maple necks in the near future :+1:

It’s not about comfort. The rolled fretboard with combination of narrow neck doesn’t feel right for me somehow. When I pick up my p-bass the neck feels great and hefty. Sire feels too … delicate … is the word I guess.

Nice. There’s a run on Sires here lately!

Damn, saw this on EBay, and it set off some major GAS.
I have always wanted a

Ever since watching the first lesson in the first module of B2B. @JoshFossgreen glorious Peavey Cirrus.

I have seen some run down around $500, and nice ones up above $1200, with average nice shape, good looking ones from $800 and up.

This one was on EBay. Looks great.
Not working.
Reason
Needs a string.
Electronics are not working,
Reason, I suspect, needs a battery.

So, I ogled over these photos for a while, thinking, do I buy it, do I pass, hmmmm. IDK, keep looking

Front is nice, but I am a man that likes a nice looking ass side to a woman, Er, I mean bass., so

OhhhLaLa……….

As for the electronics not working, I am guessing that is a battery compartment, being held on by tape, so chances are, new strings, and battery, and there will be some sound.

She looks a bit dusty, and missing a non.
I wonder what she will sound like with about 1/2 hour work into it?

Bet it plays.
Probably could use some good pick ups, possibly new tuners.
The bridge might be nice if it cleans up good, or I can change that too.

But, do I buy it on EBay?

From a GoodWill in Seattle, with proceeds going to help those in need (Covid related I am guessing)

Hmmm

I always did want a Peavey, and Grind was my number 2 choice, with Cirrus being my number one choice.

Hmmmmm

Also, this could only be a purchase to clean up, pimp up and get max dollar selling it, who knows.

What should I do.

You really need to ask!
Buy it.
Worst case put a string and battery and make a buck.

I did, it was auction, I ended up winning
$402.50 plus $35 shipping

Gonna get it strung and powered, play it.
Probably tuners, pick ups, see about the preamp, and pimp it, and then flip it for what they go for, at least double that, if it is as nice as it looks.

I really did not plan on buying anything today.
But hell
We are celebrating freedom, and I just used some of my freedom to purchase something I freely won.
Yay

I ordered my first pedal. I just hope it will not end up like with any other type of gear … I started to collect after a first buy.

Nah, that never happens. Everybody stops at their first pedal.
Congrats, BTW.

I love how the first pedal is free.

I have to mention, I used to have a bunch of cheap pedals for synths, before the box went … somewhere. So I know they are not free. But with the amount of time I spend on Bass. First bass pedal is definitely a dangerous idea.
