GAS - Gear Acquisition Syndrome (Part 2)

That thing is beautiful! However, it’s screaming for gold hardware

Well sister is also in the house - I may end up keeping both (wasn’t the original plan), need to see them in action (white came with neck dismantled - just put it back), I believe I’m in love now:

If only one, then the white one would get my vote!

Very happy today. Been undecided between a Rumble 500 and 800. Thomann had a B stock 800 this week that they reduced again today to £649. On its way for £75 less than a 300 and just £38 more than a 200. Saved £106 ($145)

I’d love to have that but the distance….

NBD!

My Sire M5 just got in about an hour ago, I just got done sound testing it and kinda figuring out what my default config is probably going to be. I’m liking series for both pickups or parallel - neck and series - bridge alot so far. Excellent playability, I was a little concerned about the slimmer 1.5” neck but the 12” radius helps a lot to give my fingers space to sit comfortably without bunching up. The sweet spot on the frets is smaller than my BB734, I’m going to need to be more conscious about hitting just behind the fret wire more until I get used to that. It’s lighter than I was expecting, it probably weighs about the same as my G&L Doheny (6 string guitar) and at least a pound lighter than my BB. The bridge is fantastic, seriously, it is just fabulous. I didn’t really need to adjust anything, the E was a few cents flat but that was it. Action, intonation, and truss rod were all spot on from the factory and those rolled edges are so smooth.

I just realized that this is the first bass that I’ve bought in almost a year, I have picked up a few guitars in there though. I’ll dig more in to tones and effects later tonight, my girlie wants to go do social stuff so I need to get dressed.

Huge congrats, man! The Sire M5 is a stellar bass. Its hardware and electronics are simply great. And its playability has to be experienced to be fully realized.

It is indeed lightweight, but along with its rolled-edges neck, its body size/shape/contours make it super-comfortable to hold and play, whether sitting or standing.

Have a blast exploring all it can do! :+1:

It is a lovely shade of blue. In person, it’s a bit darker and more of an emerald blue. My red BB is also transparent so the pair of them sitting together have a really nice yin / yang thing going on.
