I’ve only been at the course since May 1 – great refresher & endurance workout so far – so it was only a matter of time before I’d suffer a flare-up of what y’all call Gear Acquisition Syndrome. Boston Guitar’s Reverb shop to the rescue. They cut me a great deal (with decent int’l shipping north of the border) on a fun little assortment of early birthday presents to myself.
A set of 3 stick-on thumb rests for acoustic bass. (I have well-used-but-loved Epiphone El Segundo acoustic bass modified into a lefty by a local luthier. I love playing it but miss having anywhere to place my thumb. If these work they work; if they don’t, they don’t (Yolo!):
A set of 10 footswitch toppers, since I am usually playing/practising in socks or bare feet:
@itsratso Yup, is what it is! Glad someone else found it funny, b/c that was the idea. The bass porn in this forum is top notch, so I thought I’d throw in my little drugstore grab bag. Waiting for delivery of a very special out-of-stock Schecter bass - no big purchase in the meantime.
Rule of thumb is search for a thread first on what you are thinking about posting, there probably is one somewhere, and continue it on.
If your idea doesn’t fit, start another thread for sure!
Thanks - I have been reading that one - wasn’t sure if I should append this assortment of random things, since most of the stuff in the GAS thread is pretty bass-specific, which a hoodie and a stylophone definitely aren’t.
I live in Kelowna and work in engineering/manufacturing and sadly we’ve lost much of our manufacturing here over the last ~20 years. It’s crazy expensive to live here
@sshoihet That’s awful to hear. NS has been experiencing a bit of a boom in manufacturing and tech due to the lower cost of land/real estate, coupled with really high concentration of unis & colleges. Until the pandemic, anyway-- now every computer scientist from the GTA wants to work from home on the seashore & it’s getting difficult for locals (who can’t command “Toronto salaries”) to keep a roof over their heads. This has put a lot of strain on our local music industry, too – closing small/medium venues and practice spaces; less disposable income so locals don’t go out to see as many shows; etc.
I live in Guelph, just a blond one outside of the GTA. Moving to Saudi Oilberta next month for my new job. Couldn’t afford to live here anymore, because TO, Brampton and Markham bought out the market.
