Gear beyond the bass for an apartment

Its been 25 years since i played and I wanted to get back to it. I was hoping you could help me out a bit with how to set up to relearn to play bass after a bunch of time off.
from my 25 year back me: Ive got a drive pedal, a delay pedal, a couple basses, plenty of cabinets, a blown up hartke ha4000, a working but maybe soon to go GK1200CEB. I just picked up a line6 bass pod on my BiL’s rec of a pod and headphones so now im here

Whats your rec for a new player?
I think Im looking for headphones and how they tie into a laptop i think. Like what would be a good set up for someone who is starting from 0 gear and lives in an apartment wiht plans to jam wiht friends over the internet?

Which Pod did you get? That might be all you need.

line 6 pod express bass

It has a headphone out and acts as an audio interface for your computer. If you want to share recordings with other people on the Internet, your next step is choosing recording software.

And if you have an iPhone, or Apple computer, they come bundled with GarageBand, which is pretty good! Certainly all I need at present…

+1 to the comments above.
The Line6 with the most accessible software will get you where you want to go.

Do you get the same results when using headphones?

Thank yoh! The pod works.with headphones and disconnected from my chain
Is it worth testing with the pedals or is that sufficent to your troubleshooting?

It should be working with the full pedal chain. Check it with the full chain, with and without the headphones connected.

If everything else works, and it doesn’t pass signal when the headphones are disconnected, then you’ve probably got a faulty unit.

Inconvenient, but it can happen with any mass produced item. I would return it for another one.
