I’ll rub my wood with an oily cloth and see what happens

LOL. Yeah, this worked out to be about a drop every 3 frets. Yes, applied with a cloth.

Doctor Duck’s Ax Wax. Have had the same bottle of it for decades.

That’s some pretty wavy coloration in the middle!

I couldn’t handle the SS rounds on my 734 anymore. I’ve been not playing it for the past month because I viscerally hated those strings. The feel, the sound… total package of suck. I picked up a set of my tride and true GHS pressurewounds and just threw those on and shitcan the SIT’s. Night and day difference. Bonus, the black silk on those matching with the headstock looks so nice. Can’t wait to sit down and dig back in with my BB this evening.

Normal stainless strings are too bright even for me.

I’m loving the stainless steel Elixirs though - feel great and sound very post-punk.

I keep wanting to try Elixir’s on a bass, I’ve got them on my Les Paul and they’re awesome. I was frustrated and wanted a known quantity this time around so I went with the pressurewounds since I know them and love them. 3/5 basses are running them now, and I think they are perfect for that BB. Really easy to EQ for whatever sound you want which is already a strength of the 734.

Yeah if you have a string that works for you, keep going with it

The BB will sound good with almost anything, it’s super versatile.

Thanks for the reminder! I’ve been trying to get used to the DR Hi-Beams I got with my BB and I just don’t like the way they feel on my fingers. Time to actually install the D’Addario NYXL set I get to replace them.

Oh yeah, that’s better! Also now the D and G don’t sound as unpleasant.

iPhone SE, believe it or not!

And so it begins - time to address a few high fret (spots). It’s not sprout as I checked with .004 feeler gauge. Shouldn’t have to remove much but I’m tired of having to play with high action.

Yay. Well done. This is something everyone should learn to do, it’s much easier than it looks.

Here’s a pic in process. All done now though and strung a set of new strings. Got low-med action and no fret buzz! :sunglasses:

Awesome, well done.

You probably don’t even need to bother with the tape; most fretboard scuffs from spot-leveling will polish or sand out in my experience. It’s a good idea until you’re confident with that though.
