Girly Pop Songs

Hey all! I’m looking for some fun pop songs to play bass with. I’ve got two little girls (1 & 4) and we have fun little dance parties with instruments and their little toy microphones. I definitely get the best response when I turn on pop with a female lead, but a lot of those songs tend to have synth bass. So far I’ve got:

  • The Dead Dance - Lady Gaga
  • Good Luck, Babe! - Chappell Roan
  • Espresso - Sabrina Carpenter

Any other fun ones out there?

My little brother LOVED KT Tunstalls “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree” aka the owl song when he was ~3 :joy:

Everyone had to join hooting when the song was on the radio.

Edit:

Jain - Makeba has tons of bass tabs on yt (and contains possibly fun owl/bird sounds as well )

I think “Flowers” by Miley Cyrus is quite a fun one to play and I believe they lyrics are all kid friendly?

Some of Olivio Rodrigo songs have good bass lines.

If they don’t need to be current hits, then there’s no end to the possibilities really.

Yeah! They love disco too - and maybe one day I’ll be able to tear up some of those bass lines

Agreed!

@lianazorn …Perhaps for inspiration, check out these kiddos… they may be a little older than yours, but something to aspire towards, especially with a parent that brings music to their little hearts

Love that sentiment!

This is perfect! I’ll be honest I had never sat and listened to that bass line, but, damn - it’s premium :sparkling_heart:

 that’s the dream.

Jain has a lot of fun songs. I heard Makeba via the Levi’s commercial several years ago and went down a rabbit hole.

Shout out to @jbsmith166 who recommended “Flowers” to me when I was looking for songs! It really us a fun one I still play regularly.

Another one the kids might enjoy is Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots are Made for Walkin.” The original recording had both an upright and Carol Kaye on electric, but I’ve played tabs where they combined both those parts and it’s a fun ride.

It IS a really amazing bassline. Very premium for sure. And a blast to play, too… those C/B octaves make me smile when I play them.

It’s totally not my thing but yeah, in terms of girly pop, KPop is up there. Very trend focused and one-dimensional but then again so is western pop.

I got beat to say Flowers which I really enjoy too, so how about Valerie with Amy Winehouse. Seems like it can get some kids hopping around?

we LOVE K pop! I’ll have to check these out - most of our favorites are all synth bass, so it would be awesome to find some I can try :sparkling_heart:

The Cardigans! How could I have missed that one! Good call :star_struck: And solid choices all around!
