Got it then lost it

I’m learning the 12-bar blues in module 7. I play it well, remembering it all, then when I think I have got it, I totally mess it up and have to find myself again. It happens more than I would like.

It is the way.

Just play it over and over again, then walk away.

If, next practice session, you’re rusty and need to find it again, that’s cool. What you’ll learn is that each time you go to play it, it will be a bit more engrained in your muscle memory and you’ll find it quicker. It comes in time, with practice. You got this. :+1:

Keep going you’ll eventually get there and sooner rather than later. Trust the process.

Last Saturday at a gig, the singer called a song that I totally forgot to practice since the last gig. Muscle memory kicked half way through the 1st verse, I locked in and I was the only one that realized my oversight. Keep at it.

Tangled Up in Blue was the culprit. To make it worse we do it in G instead of A like the original.

Shouldn’t matter. Focus on the shape, that’s the same. Practice starting at different spots on the fretboard.

I try to remind myself that if I’ve played it before I’ll be able to to play it again. That nailing it the first time is the biggest hurdle, after that I need to have patience with myself and keep on it. It’s frustrating tho.
