If you know a Veteran who suffers from depression, pass the word. I applied and today had my first lesson. After the 10 weeks, they award you an acoustic guitar for keeps. No cost to the Veteran. Plus the networking … I am thrilled. He is going to hook me up with people he knows around Charlotte including a Blues group. He knows I am a bassman, and I mentioned Bassbuzz to him. This is for me to grow musically. And now I have a week to practice some 1-4-5 blues chords he showed me.
I find I can do some basslines on this guitar … tiny strings, but hey …
I took a peek at your profile after your post, you are retired Navy, What did you do? I’m a retired Chief Firecontrolman. I retired 25 years ago now. I served on an Oiler, Battleship and two guided missile cruisers. I miss those days! P.S. I entered from AFEES in Charlotte.
Hey, I am a retired Chief Electronic Warfare Tech. Served on a Knox FF, an LPH, an AOR, and finished on an Arleigh Burke DD. All east coast. My last job was exam writer at Saufley field as they force converted all EWs into CTTs. So i retired as a CTTC, though i knew nothing of crypto. Exam writer was a good job.
I did 10 in the Navy and got out as a CTO1(SW). Did my first tour on a frigate out of Pearl (USS Crommelin FFG-37). Then worked for a 4 star traveling around Europe on his staff. Did 3 in San Diego as the maintenance chief in a comm center, then worked at a joint command on Ft Bragg. Got to do a year over in Afghanistan with those folks.
The Mighty Battle Oiler Kalamazoo (AOR-6) 1992-1996 … My favorite ship of the four, in terms of crew. I was ranked the #1 first class on board which led to me making Chief in 1998. Yes, I was an AN/SLQ-32(V)3 tech.
The Savannah (AOR4) was my first ship, she set the tone for work hard, play hard. I split toured to the Iowa as a second, made first there. I went on to teach at Great Lakes and made Chief in 89. The next two for me were cruisers Chosin and Vella Gulf. With another teaching tour in between. I miss it!
