Wow! Reasonably priced too. But it’s a carved P bass neck yo Jazz neck. I kinda want one with P profile. I guess I have to make one myself, :joy:

No producer switch? I’ll pass.

Oh no. I really like this…..

This would qualify for the “Double-fisted punching machines” thread. The spacing on those pickups is interesting though.

It’s overrated. It doesn’t do quite as much on my StarBass Sklar signature.

Thank god it’s not short scale and I can’t be tempted

The pickups are only 129 each. Hmmm

“Gotoh® reversed-open gear tuners provide smooth, precise tuning with reliable long-term stability, while the Hipshot® BT3 Bass Xtender™ allows instant drop-tuning at the flip of a lever for seamless transitions between tunings on the fly.”

How well does this drop-tuning contraption work? I have never seen one, except for videos. It is kind of an interesting invention. Has anyone here a bass with this? @Al1885 ?

I like the name of the bridge! Badass™ II Bridge.

I have Hipshot Bass Extenders on 3 of 4 basses and use it daily.

Many here at BB are not fans, but I really love to just switch from EADG to Drop D instantly, depending on the song I’m playing.
Now I’m making my own songs, I use it even more, as more bass is more better

My only issue with these things is that they are kind of superfluous- tuning down and back up takes seconds. So for live use, sure, I get it - but home use they don’t really save you much.

I put one (a Guyker version) on my project bass.

It’s really slick to just be able to flip the lever and that string is perfectly tuned to low D instead of E. Flip it back up and you’re at E again. Can do it mid song, even, without worrying about retuning. Or if you have some songs in your setlist that need it without swapping basses or spending time dialing in the new tuning and back again when done.

It’s just interesting to me that they mix Gotoh tuners with the HipShot drop tuner as Gotoh makes a drop tuner in that style, and HipShot makes regular tuners in that style.

Michael Manring knows how to use them (on all tuners, plus one on the bridge) :joy:

Nice, but is it really anything that other brands (G&L, Schecter, etc) haven’t already done?

I am new here, so I am unsure if you are joking about the price. When I looked it listed at $3500…

Sure… and there is a thread especially about basses with double-P pickups configurations (“double fisted punching machines”). But, this is “special” in that it is modelled after a famous modded bass (that Lee Sklar has been using for… forever really).

Al is living on a different planet concerning basses and what he is willing to do/pay to get his hands on them

Its a lever. You extend the lever which lengthens the string and it de tunes down to D.

I tried it. It works but unfortunately you can’t hang your bass by the neck on a wall hanger with one on. So I took it off. I use a pitch shifter pedal within Helix to down tune for our set list.

Depends on the bass & the wall hanger. Works perfectly for me…

Correction on some basses with larger style tuners Fender etc it doesn’t work.

You can hang your bass facing the wrong way to get round it but who doesn’t want to look at their bass?

Or step on tuner pedal, retune. Play.

Sounds like it can be very practical for a gigging musician, especially for doing it mid song. That sounds cool.

That makes sense too.

It comes down to personal tastes or needs.

I appreciate that someone came up with this thing! Nice invention!

That was interesting!

That’s nice to know as well! Thanks!
