You know I will pick it up. Thanks @booker_t I’ll give you a call in the next 2 weeks or so. Since I’m incredibly bias and Asian, if it’s all the same to you I’d take your Yin Yang with me, I like the Asian name . That bass is just incredible.
I’ll bring along the Cutlass and the Caprice with me, and if you can think of anything you want to play just let me know. See you in a few weeks, I just have to make more room in my shed for the amp, .
@soulman I know this thread is a bit old but I’m about to upgrade from a combo to a separate amp and head. I’ve tentatively narrowed it down to the Genzler Magellan and the Aguilar AG series amp head, since I’m looking for something that’s “transparent” (maybe the wrong term) with headroom and I’m planning on using pedals to shape my tone beyond what I can do with the EQ. My question to you (since you seem to have a lot of experience and great technical understanding of the topic, but I’d be happy with answers from anyone), is assuming I’m ok spending the extra $ for the higher wattage head, even though I may never need more than 300-500W, is that what you’d recommend? With the Genz, there’s an appreciable cost delta between the 350 and the 800 and likely the 350 would work great for me, however with the Aguilar there’s only $100 difference between the 500 and the 700W heads, and if I go with Aguilar it seems like a no brainer to just get the 700 and be done. Is there a downside to too much wattage? When it comes to how this will be used, assume it’s practice and jam session or small live venue, maybe some day larger venue? Also, bonus question: The Genz has more tone shaping, but I’ll mostly use pedals for tone shaping so is there really much value in that feature on the amp head?
