Help pricing a Ibanez GIO100

Hey everyone, seems like yesterday I was posting about my first bass, an I anez GIO 100.

Now that I have a few more I’m thinking of selling it to eventually buy other stuff. I’m a fan of smooth warm tones and between the pickups and bridge it’s almost got a synth like quality about it.

Anyway here’s what I’ve added to it. I’ll throw up a pic but I’m just wondering, what would be a good CL or reverb price???

As far as modifications go I added:

-EMG P-X Active Bass Pickup
-Hipshot KickAss High-mass Bass Bridge
-KAISH Black with White Pearl Cap Knobs

I could also include the practice amp (10-15w) and gigbag that came with it.

If it helps take offs the mods and put the original back and sell it at the market price. You spent over $200 on the mod but won’t get nearly half back. You’d most likely could at most price it at $200 and hoping no one make the offer.

Black bass is not drawing attention as there are plenty on the market. If you have pink or purple, it will sell very quickly because no one has them.

I couldn’t find the model, can you show me the back of the headstock please. In any rate, it’s better to serve you as a test bed bass.

Reverb is not a good place to sell the shipping is going to kill your listing. Try OfferUp. I don’t do Craigs so I don’t know. BookFace Marketplace is ok but too many crazy’s and low ballers.

I can’t offer an opinion regarding value of your bass, but I agree with returning the base to original, if you’ve still got the parts. I’m gassing over a simple p-bass and was looking at a Sire. A guy has one listed at the same price as a new one from a reputable dealer, on the premise that he has replaced the pick-up. From my perspective, it’s a pass. I’d want a reasonably new, second hand bass for 50% to 70% of the lowest retail I can find, irrespective of mods. Obviously, this applies to current basses, rather than very old / collectors basses.

In terms of a place to sell, I’ve have successfully sold a few in Facebook Marketplace, in fact I had an asking price offer on one today.

I had similar ideas to Al regarding price. The other factor is how long you want to wait to sell it. Price it low enough and it will move fast. If you have time you can see what the market will bear.

FWIW this is what I was considering as data points.

$100 - the lowest price for used SGR100 i could google.
$130 - price paid a few years ago for a used SGR100 in SF Bay Area
$200 - price of new SGR100 anywhere
$250 - price some people are asking online for a used SGR100
$379 - price of squier affinity bass + amp package
$400 - what it would cost in parts to recreate this bass.

If you’re in the SF Bay area I know someone who might be interested. Lives out of state but comes into town every other week and wants to leave a bass to practice with here.

Also keep in mind, the used entry level of pretty much every brands except Fender or Squier will drop in value significantly unless it’s a hard to find color or limited edition.

Right color or models or modifications can significantly increase on Squiers. If you make the right mods on your Jaguar you can pretty much get your entire investment back when you sell it. I modded 2 of these and play with it then sold it with profits.
