I used to be pretty active here but kind of stepped away from bass for a while after life happened and I hit a plateau in improving/got really frustrated. I have started to pick up my old lesson books and am working on a few new covers, one of which I hope to post soon.
Its rather amazing how much stuff you forget if you don’t use it everyday and even more amazing how your fingers can’t play stuff they used to be able to.
Anyhoo…hope to be posting on here more and picking up where I left off.
I’m in the same boat. I still play at church once a month or so, but stopped doing B2B around lesson 8. I really want to get over whatever mental block is stopping me and get back into it.
I’m ashamed to admit it, but, I’ve fallen off the BassBuzz wagon for a bit because I’m weathering some marital problems. Was chugging along at a nice pace but went on honeymoon and well, just some stuff happened and there was a rough bit. We’ve talked it through and I think I’m getting over it. It is kind of hard to practice focused when this was going on. Couldn’t even bring myself to listen to music for a while there, TBH. I really really want to get back on track with the lessons so am giving myself Xmas hiatus, and hoping I’ll be back on the beast in 2025. Speaking of which, Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to all of yaz!
There is nothing to be ashamed or guilty of for needing to take a break. I am sorry for your pain. 2025 is 14 days away! I dare you to strap your bass over your shoulder and watch JOSH. They are both a gift from the Creator that will help you weather your storms and feel better. Why wait?
Really sorry to hear about the hard times but you’re doing the right thing by giving yourself some space and time to process everything. Best of luck getting back in to it and don’t be hard on yourself if it takes a while.
None of us are on the same track, none of us are on the same timeline. One of the things I love about B2B is that it isn’t a subscription. It’s just ours and we can go through it or revisit it whenever we are so inclined. It’ll be there and ready to go when you are.
