If my settings doesn’t look like this for whatver reason, what are the options , How can I set this rigth ? Does it imply to put other holes in the headstock ?
Here you can see the mechanism in a little video.
Watch that little lever! It must be in the right position to work properly.
I can already say that my lever go way more down and passed by that 45° degree
Really need to see pictures here!
In the open position there is a lot of degrees of freedom - which won’t affect the tuning itself
i just installed a hipshot xtender on my p/j bass. when i drop to D then back to E it is a little sharp but i think that is most people’s experience and is normal. it might be noticeable on its own but likely would not be an issue when playing with others or backing tracks. hasn’t bothered me at all. it also does not get progressively more sharp as i switch between the tunings. i think it’s still worth it
and a vid’:
yes i understand I think though in my case it might be a little more audible than in most case.
Here’s another video
everything is fine for 40s then I decided to level up a bit the E and everything goes wrong
I think you need to make the videos public to be viewable on here.
sorry, yes I changed that, that should be good now
Ok, so the first video and the pictures look ok, as far as I can tell.
The lever of your Hipshot seems to have more degrees of freedom than mine, but that is not relevant here…
Are you sure that the tuner is installed correctly in the headstock?
So, the hole for the peg was a 100% fit? Nothing wiggles, nothing is loose? The screw(s) is/are tight too?
You did not have the issue before right? So you can rule out bridge, nut and E-string issues?
Is the winding around the peg ok? Sometimes this is done incorrectly. It should look like this:
Freshly installed, the strings might need some time to “settle”, which changes the tuning too…
never had any issue before. Two things tg:
Strings are brand new indeed.
The little peg that suppose to tune in “D” is very loose (when lever up), very sensitive to changes
it seems to me yes; Apart from that little things to turn in order to tune in D. It is very loose when lever is up
Can you post a pic with an arrow that shows “the little peg”?
Nothing should be loose, except the large lever, when in open position…
This is a video of my Hipshot.
You can see the open and closed position - and some wiggle, that you don’t use of course:
That little fellow on your pic should be easy to screw when closed and hard when open.
Can you make a pic of the winding of the string around the peg, just like I did?
Also, cause I used the word “Wiggle” so much, I need to post a stupid song:
truth is, I don’t have as much strings as you do around my peg, I migth have cut them too much
pics to come
