Or, join a band. That will sort it
Not for bass, But yes.
I look at similarities, dry to weed out differences.
I am not actually wanting any of you to do them if you don’t want to, I am simply saying they can work and are possible so as not to discourage anyone who may read this thread and be on the fence about taking them.
IMO, and IME, online lessons work.
Done
Sorry @T_dub I wasn’t questioning your decision nor the effectiveness of the lessons. I was (and still am) curious about how the experience works.
He does just that online. He heard that I had a fingernail longer then the other, and asked if I needed to trim a nail cuz it sounded off.
I don’t think anyone argued against that.
And you think online lessons are just as good as being in the same room as the teacher?
No sorry necessary, I did not take it that way. Probably shouldn’t have put the “done” in there, too bold of a way to express what I meant, and obviously, I am not…
I just keep trying to show ways that this can be a good experience, and ways it is already sort of familiar with is, and I keep hearing all the reasons not to do it. I do not want to argue, or get to a point where it could turn into an argument, so I just wanted to end it on a positive note (which was again, probably canceled out by saying “done” my bad).
I do need to clarify, I am not trying to say, Go online only”. “Death to live lessons”
Of course if live lessons are an option, and the teacher is awesome, I am all for it, absolutely.
But if it’s not an option, online is an option worth considering.
The sentiments against that are kind of what was pushing me out of the conversation, I was not offended, nor felt personally attacked, I was just kinda like stopping running headfirst into a brick wall.
Put like that - sure. It’s better than no teacher at all for sure!
I think overall we are all on the same page and your counter advertisement for our negativity just came off a bit strong
Nobody is arguing that interactive online lessons DON’T work, so please don’t take it that way @T_dub. I would truly like to give it a try, but am still confused about how it works.
Yes they can be. What is done in the short time, which is very little playing actually, can be done online. And if the online teacher is a great teacher, and the in person is a good player, but not so experienced in teaching, yes, I think it could be a better lesson online.
Flip that around, if the live teacher is great, and the online teacher is not, then no, the live is much better.
And I never once said anything bad about live lessons, or against taking them when you can with a good teacher.
Cool that’s the personal touch that’s nice
Yeah I guess all I’m doing is comparing static videos to in person training.
Which, thinking about it, isn’t a very fair comparison
That much is obvious.
I meant given it’s the exact same teacher. I know it’s something we both didn’t experience but I can’t imagine it not being better in person.
Yeah very good point. No point in having a shit teacher in real live compared to a great teacher on line, definitely
Yes, that’s where I don’t want it going, I love you all, and you guys are considered friends for sure, and it will stay that way.
Same book, different page, but it’s a good book
@JoshFossgreen I would like to take an online lesson from you to see what it’s like. Please contact me with details.
Except I’m having trouble reading it
I already said if it were possible to take live lessons with josh I would in a heartbeat.
And said @PamPurrs and I should meet there to get a group discount.
Most of what I said, several times answers some of the questions I have gotten back
The beautiful irony here is that this conversation would have been soo much better in person
… over a pint
Definitely! We’d all have the whole world sorted in a few hours
You have live lessons. At least try those for comparison. You committed to 6. The first one will be all about getting to know you, what you know, where you are at, where you want to go, if not 2 lessons, being that they are 1/2 hour.
If you take a few with josh, after you do live lessons, I am really excited to know what your take is on that, but it will take more then one with Josh needed I think to get a fair comparison based on what I was saying above.
