Hi , i am enjoying coarse ,could you give advice on accompany to our ukukele group ,(they only use chord boxes) normally in the keyof C OR G. WERE ALL IN OUR SEVENTIES,AND I cant wait to start,I have been told just play root of chord and possibly root and fifth any other suggestions would be of help. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THE REST OF THE COARSE. TOM FROM WALES…
If you have an example(s) of the song(s) you are playing. I’m sure collectively the BassBuzz gang can come up with something you’ll like to try.
Thank you for response ,Like all ukulele groups we play all types of music from, Bad moon rising ,Folsom prison ,MEMPHIS Tenessee, Sweet Caroline,to all the Beatles songs ,all songs from the past to present GEORGE EZRA ,STEREO PHONICS, etc (So we have over a hundred plus songs.)all different types, what is reqd is a basic general idea what i can play when the group are playing their chords ie G C F A D etc.HOPEYOU CAN HELP. I am hoping when I get to the end of the coarse this will become Clear to me.Regards TOM…
Nice @tclej. That sounds like a fun playlist.
If you play the songs without the drums then you are the other half of the rhythm section. You can do one of 2 things.
One, stay with the Root notes and add strength to the chords of the songs occasionally play the iconic bass line for example “Sweet Caroline” descending note.
Two, if you are comfortable playing then play them with meaningful fills such as a chromatic fills it would help guide the song and fill up the empty space of the song without the drum part.
Just have fun.
I suggest you switch to a Norwegian Death Metal ukulele band!
Haha. Just kidding!
I’d love to see some video of your ukulele band jamming.
