I betrayed Bass and bought a Guitar!

Very nice! Those are awesome. My bandmate’s 5120 looks and sounds like a million bucks.

I’d want a center-block with hardtail like that too. No funky bridge worries that way.

I hope it works out, something of an experiment for me. It was only $350 new; free shipping, seems reasonable. Will see if I take to it before I invest a lot. Probably try out the Justin lessons.

Should have it Monday. Need to replace the pickguard though lol.

Ha. Actually the tortoiseshell isn’t so bad there.

Not going to lie though, I was pretty in to the Pacifica 611’s - except that I wanted to go HH and with a non-strat style this time, and more importantly, the tortoiseshell

Same finish as my TRBX604 - but that tortoiseshell - no. Although it works better on this one than on the purple one.

Ok, GAS satisfied. I really like my Cort, and this should complete it’s PRS vibe while fixing the biggest area it’s behind the PRS SE’s. This pickup combo sounds great, got a lot of guidance from @terb selecting these.

Nice thing is I can always bring them along to future guitars as well, and never worry about pickup quality when looking in the future.

Nice. I like Duncans.

Just not a tortie fan; think black would look killer, but only one I’ve found so far is $70. Sunk the money into a case instead.

Pickups are a question. I have seen a wide variety of opinions on the 2655 pickups, from they’re great to they suck but the rest is nice. Will see when it gets here.

What is a decent guitar amp - my plan is to play out of a bass amp, probably my Ampeg to start. It has more clarity and less boom then the Fender

I actually don’t know as I don’t use them, I just use amp sims. I just know the big name classics as far as actual amps go. I do know I like the sound of Orange amps; Marshalls too, and the Vox AC15, but I know nothing about the current state of guitar amps. Need to ask actual guitarists

Well all the vids it seems to sound nice, and that black pickguard is killer.

Do i have to go find a guitar forum?

I’m avoiding them on purpose.

playing guitar on a bass amp usually sounds really bad. technically it works, in the sense that it will make your sound louder and won’t damage anything, but the preamp of a guitar amp is very different from the one on a bass amp.

I’d say you would need at least a guitar preamp to plug into the Return of your bass amp, if you don’t have a dedicated guitar amp.

Nice, SD are great! They sound killer in the demo.

NeuralDSP amp sims are the best and very popular. I really really like them. I haven’t found anything equal besides the Helix Native one. The Plini is really good if you want something less heavy.

You could also look at amp-in-a-box pedals. They usually come with cab sims too. The Strymon Iridium is a bit too expensive for me but you got some nice options. I just play guitar via my NeuralDPS amp sims. :metal:

I really like Kuassa, especially Amplifikation Clarent and Amplifikation Matchlock.

I really should check out the guitar archetypes though now that you mention it.

Never heard of Kuassa. Looks nice too. Just try out an archetype trial and let me know how you like them. I’m pretty sure you will be blown away. They are more advanced than the Darkglass sims.

Oh wow. Some of those are pretty sweet. Granophyre sounded great.

Another very pretty color, @Wombat-metal . . .

Good luck with it and wish you lots of happy playing!

Delivered today!

Might wait a day to put them on, debating whether or not to add a blend pot now too instead of the 3-way switch.

This has become my pick of choice for guitar. Just the right control for both picking and strumming!

Nice! Looks like Tortex.

I’m still finding the right pick. Ultex 0.60 feels great but is a little too stiff for me yet.

That’s a Tortex .88, I claim my Five Pounds (that’s a really really dated comedy reference kids)

Dunlop Gator 1.14 for me playing electric. Guitar picks yawn, sorry bass buzzers

LOL. I’d neglected to notice that the neck pickup I ordered isn’t splittable, so my choice is: leave the coil split in and have it only split the bridge, or just simplify the thing with some new pots and rewire it without the split.

Leaning toward the latter, actually, but not decided yet. Might not sound bad splitting just the bridge as the neck is a relatively bright PAF (Seymour Duncan SH1 '59).

I did get some satisfaction cutting off the 9’s
