I betrayed Bass and bought a Guitar!

Yeah, if you’re just buying it as a curiosity it would be cool. I’m actually using mine so I want it in the standard register.

Yep, it is a guitar. A baritone one

It’s a bass for guitarists - they know where all the notes are :upside_down_face:

In Get Back, you see Lennon using it on tunes Paul is on the Piano.

Wow, very nice Laurent @terb . . .

I don’t know anything about acoustic guitars, but I’m sure that if YOU picked it out . . . then it’s got to be a good one!

Cheers

Back in the USSR too, basically any song where John or George provided the bass while Paul was on piano

Think I’m off to Stringjoy to get strings for my b206 25:95. Thanks for the idea @John_E

Ooh, gorgeous fretboard.

yeah it’s a thick Rio Rosewood fretboard :

that’s a nice part of the guitar, but also I absolutly love the other side of the neck : this is a 3-parts neck with a maple insert at the center :

An ambient guitarist showing off SRC6 stuff (same sort of instrument as the Fender VI but Ibanez definitely went “this is a smol bass” with it vs the competition, imo)

If you’re into ambient guitar at all, Chords of Orion is a great channel.

Let me know if that works!

looks great! I hate those tuning pegs for a guitar tho imo

Ibanez definitely went with a “this is a shortscale bass and shall be treated as such” aesthetic lol. Complete with EMG HZ bass pickups and a 3 band EQ. I actually love it, though, and do not like the “vintagey” Fender VI look (and its various clones) :eyes:

For my next trick, I might try and put a VI set on a Rondo/Agile baritone, as they have a 30" scale, too. You might like those better, they have guitar tuning pegs on them because guitar. And EMG guitar pickups, not sure how those will work out but probably more guitar-like (and I would be replacing them with EMG’s “bass pickps in a humbucker housing” because I want another shortscale bass XD )

Will do. Ordered from Stringjoy, so a week out I hope. 25/35/45/55/70/95. Why those sizes? La Bella has a set of Bass VI strings in those gauges.

I have Stringjoy’s “balanced medium” set that is 24-90 on my SRC6. 24w 32 42 54 76 90. Iirc in their video they caution against using their tension calculator with other’s strings since everyone is different, though tbh when I compared it to string tension calcs that use the info D’Addario put out it was still pretty close. They themselves have a 26 34 44 56 74 95 set they call “balanced heavy” so I imagine your strings will feel pretty great, too. I’d be curious to know how it turns out for you as those gauges look like from their actual bass strings selection.

My SRC6 is thru-body so I’m kinda stuck with guitar ball ends due to the ferrules (or else have the ball ends sticking out the back all classy-like).

I love their strings, though, and won’t go back to the D’Addario EXL156s unless I have to.

Couldn’t agree more. I really, really prefer the Ibanez look.

Yes, my B206 has a 35" scale and they didn’t have a set for a Bass VI concept, so I had to make up a custom set. I’m curious too. I’ll love it, or I won’t. But it’s a set of strings so no worries if I really don’t like it.

Well… 10+ months from now this will be my Bass VI.
