I betrayed Bass and bought a Guitar!

Is there Miku’s soul trapped in that thing or what? O.o

That is some impressive hologram technology. Never seen a show as clear as this.

Yeah that’s been their jam for like a decade now. There’s a lot of others too.

Vocaloids are fun. I did one cover with one:

I used the vocaloid for backup vocals on this one too:

The “oohs” starting at 0:14 and repeated elsewhere in the song are synthesized.

LOL now I’m GASsing for Vocaloid 5.

I found the PRS with its 24.5” scale too noodly and the tuning unstable with the 9-42s it came with. I decided to restring it with 10-46s and boy what a difference did it make! It now feels great and the tuning is stable. Luckily the nut isn’t binding and doesn’t need to be recut.

I used D’Addario EXL110BTs just to give balanced tension a try.

I have a PRS 594 double cut and I use DR Pure Blues 10-46 strings and I am very happy with how it plays and sounds. I haven’t tried 9’s on it but when I put a set of 9’s on my Yamaha SG700S they just felt too light and sounded a bit thin.

9’s are very light string, especially on Gibson-like scale

I prefer 10’s to 9’s even as an extreme beginner.

I play 9s on my Strat but prefer 11-48 on the Les Paul.

I have absolutely no objective reason for that choice, the heavier strings just feel more ‘correct’ for the Gibson. :person_shrugging:

Interesting video on amp tone.

Today’s daily deal at MF, $59

Blackstar Redline amp

And I got another one… Eastman SB59 in Red Burst. This guitar is amazing! I’ve read comments online that it’s supposed to rival the Gibson custom shop. I don’t know if it’s true (since I’ve never seen a custom shop) but the quality and craftsmanship on this instrument are incredible! It is above any production Les Paul I’ve ever handled at any store.

Beautiful one peace Mahogany neck, one peace solid Mahogany back and sides, spectacular AAA solid flamed maple cap, super dark Ebony fretboard, pearl inlays, CTS 500k audio taper pots, Sprague Orange Drop capacitors, Switchcraft toggle switch and output jack, Gotoh Klusson vintage style tuners, Gotoh hardware, Seymour Duncan 59 pickups, and a very nice fitted hard case.

It comes strung with D’addario NYXL strings, impeccable setup and fret work, sounds killer, and get this, it weighs 8.5 lbs! They had two other lighter ones at 7.8 lbs and 8.1 lbs, but this is the one I connected with.

I am joining in on the Eastman hype and claiming that this is the best guitar I’ve ever laid my hands on! I hate to say this, but Gibson is in trouble. This guitar blows them out of the water, and at a fraction of the cost.

I like hybrid 9s on my LP but you have to have a light touch with them… they do feel more like 8s on a strat though.

Looks very nice! I think I need to learn a bit more about these guitars!

Don’t do it! Just forget guitars exist and go practice your scales or something

That’s a very good idea.

There’s a few brands cranking out really high quality instruments in China. Check out Shijie in Hong Kong too.

Some youtubers did teardowns of these and they were beautiful in the electronics, along with top notch features otherwise.

The “better than Fender” isn’t clickbait - it’s a serious possibility. Up there with custom shop without issue, most likely.

I’m in love with this thing! Can’t put it down. I know I just started the honeymoon, but man, it just feels so comfortable to play. I might name this one, and I’ve never named an instrument. LOL.

I’m also super impressed with the NYXL strings. They feel really good on the fingers.
