I betrayed Bass and bought a Guitar!

Where did you purchase it from?

G tuning makes sense since a lot of bluegrass is played in G and that seems to be the genre where the lap steel shows up the most.

It was a Stupid Deal of the Day in December

Added another SG to the collection. Traded an acoustic I wasn’t using. Took hours to clean the teenage filth and sticker residue off. GFS trem and roller bridge arrive today. New pickups being wound by my guy as we speak. Came with hard case too. Debating on some creative wiring options as well…

Trem and roller bridge arrived. Pickups hopefully done next week but I might not wait and get it assembled this weekend with what I have so far

Guitar day (again) !

Here is a '76 MIA Ovation Balladeer. It’s in good condition even if it needs a good cleanup, especially about those nasty sticker marks on the top. Otherwise the neck profile is great and it plays really nicely already.

Help, I’m gassing for a guitar!
I really shouldn’t as I need to focus on my bass playing still, but I fear that I will take the plunge soon enough :grimacing:
Any recommendations for an electric guitar setup with a good price/quality ratio (guitar + amp below 1’000€) ?

Way too many options and variables on the market. My suggestion is to go to a music store and try them all to see what you like.

For practice amp I’m enjoying the Boss katana II

Well, music stores have a rather limited choice around here… Fender, Squier, Ibanez. Not even Epiphone are available

They seem to have a cheaper version of that guitar as well. Any opinion on that one?

Yep! I owned one! The Element is fantastic. The only reason I traded up was I wanted the stainless steel frets and I was obsessed with the idea of having a guitar with a power transformer in it

Most people actually recommend the Element. It’s cheaper, really high quality, and some people like its sound better. Plus it has even mroe zany colors.

Yamaha really hit a home run with this lineup.

If you want a more strat-like guitar, the Pacifica line is also fantastic. I’ve owned one of them as well and they are a guitar that even Fender snobs admit is a solid buy.

The yellow one at the start here is an Element:
