I betrayed Bass and bought a Guitar!

I think they were packing it when I got there actually. Did you order a hard case with it?

It said it came with a case but I was expecting a gig bag. You didn’t take it when no on was looking did ya

ha, no, my hands were full of Telecaster

They were packing a black hard case for shipping when I got there actually; they had to unbox mine while working on it so that 10 minute delay you get will be my fault, gomen

As long as it was full of the right telecaster…

In other news my overdrive pedal may be stuck at the Canadian border, or it may be on the way. It’s been in one spot for 3 days according to

the USPS, but their tracking system uses tarot cards near as I can tell. It often goes with updating. I’ve even been told my package has been lost after I received it a couple times. So not stressing

Did you get your new tele?

Yep, sitting here next to me in its ubershitty Fender gig bag. I have no idea why Fender cheaps out on the gig bags for the MIJ’s.

Will post pics after work.

Can’t wait to see the new twin

They must have different models because my main guitar gig bag is a Fender that is really excellent. But that’s not one I had with a MIJ. Maybe a way to lower the costs, because you had your Tele for a very good price.

Yeah I have seen their good ones, they are nice. The one I got with both MIJ’s is like a thick cloth gig sack. The fabric is actually fine and durable but the padding is very thin where it exists at all.

I don’t know if you got the OEM Yamaha SBV gig bag with your SBV-500 but this one is almost that thin. Still a bit better though.

I see this sentiment a lot and I just don’t get it. I think that being a software engineer for decades was one factor in why I like doing this all in software more. A bunch of analog gear is simply inconvenient for me. I appreciate it but definitely don’t want it if good alternatives exist.

Here it is, MIJ Hybrid II Telecaster:

And here’s The Twins together:

The only color difference is the Telecaster has a Mint Green pickguard; the P-Bass is Eggshell. Basically both are slightly off-white in different ways.

Some great features on the Tele; contoured alder body, bone nut, satin maple Modern C neck, rolled fretboard and rounded fret edges, locking tuners, 4-way selector instead of 3. The Hybrid II line is quite nice.

The blues are actually lighter than that first shot lets on; here’s a blue comparison, SBV/P-bass/Tele/Revstar

The MIM Baja came wait a gig bag (was original to it). It’s actually not as flimsy as some of the others I’ve gotten on bass from the good folks at Fender. It originally sold for $799. My MIM Vintera P that I sold came with the crappiest of gig bags and sold for $940.

I think what model gets what is more about the overall “value proposition” and price point snd consumer “cohort” the marketeers are targeting. A lot goes into the equation, and a lot of it has to do with how the current marketeer (and their bosses) think. Knowing the usual churn in marketing is two years or so in a role, things will always seem to change for no good reason.

The only sure thing is the quality will go down or the price will go up over time, or both.

No real loss, it’s not good. But it does fit the SBV, which is nice.

Yeah, sure. I have others gig bags that suit the SBV so that’s fine for me. Plus, I never travel with it, to be honest. When I have to go somewhere with a bass, it’s with Greenie.

I bought it off Reverb, it doesn’t give any indication there where the origin is other than Ikebe. But coming from Osaka, maybe it will have the blessing of Naoko with it and the Osaka Ramones

The one I linked is the only one Ikebe has, and it is marked “sold”. So I am pretty sure it’s yours

Is nobody buying acoustics anymore?
Especially when playing the Blues

Just wondering and not downplaying Teles, Strats, 335, SG, Les Paul and other electrics. :slightly_smiling_face:
