Unlike LP’s, SG’s have always seemed great to me. Only problem is trusting the manufacturer ![]()
That one ticks a lot of boxes for me. It’s my second favorite pickup combo, great color, nice binding (I am guessing that’s a Gibson and not an Epi).

sure ! but in this range (“reissues”) it’s much less a problem really, to be honest. double the price of the basic range I guess.
Gibson, yes
I still have the original Gibson P90’s but those things are shitty. On my SG, the neck pickup is a boutique Sunbear Alnico III and the bridge pickup is a Seymour Duncan “Hot”. (I also have the matching Sunbear bridge pickup, and the SD neck pickup).
Ooh nice.
I really like the sound of dual P90s. It’s kind of the best of both worlds.
you have to choose good P90’s. those pickups are quite hard to use (very very mid-focused) but yeah they can sound insanely good.
Had a few people I know rave about how great Fesley guitars are for the price and I’ve been interested in broadening my horizons so I caved and got one of my own. I gotta say the quality seems real nice right out of the box, comes with a decent gig bag too. Looking forward to giving this a shot on the side as I continue my bass journey
I have been meaning to post this for a little bit and finally got around to it. This is an Artist guitar from Australia.
Has splitable humbuckers and locking tuners. Lovely transparent finish, including the back of the neck and headstock. Neck is set.
Binding is flawless and is even on the f holes. I play this one a little too much, even when I should be playing bass. I am doing some guitar courses including a Blues one. This is my 2nd Artist guitar, I also have a SG copy, which I should show, and I love it also. Great budget guitars. My fretless bass is an Artist and it is similarly good.
Looks nicer than a “real” ES-330 to me.
A mate of mine has an Epiphone and I reckon this is at least as good or better, this is my only comparison though.
There is also a couple of Youtube comparisons to a Tokai and a real Gibson- it holds up favorably, even the base model gets good reviews- this is the slightly Gucci model.
G&L Doheny (which is the G&L version of the Fender Jazzmaster), almost new. I traded it with my 70’s japanese Jazz Bass.
I’m still not a big sunburst fan, but this one looks ok to me because the wood looks very good. It’s an ash top over a poplar body.
This guitar sounds very, very good.
I will probably try to find a black pickguard for this G&L. or maybe make it by myself, using the existing tortoise pickguard as a template.
I bought this ASG Trooper guitar on pre-order a few years ago. So far, Steve Harris, Nicko McBrain and now Derek Riggs, the original Iron Maiden Artist has signed it. I went to a Derek Riggs event last Sunday in Palm Beach Gardens this past Sunday and I got a Powerslave album signed. I forgot the guitar at home, so I went to a signing in Apopka FL on Tuesday while on the way to a job. Derek was genuinely thrilled with the guitar, after all it is his artwork!
Nice!!!
Had a few 6 string waaaaay too short scale things come and go this year but I’m not sure I can imagine not having a baritone ever again. 27” scale. Tuned B to B but I’ve played it out in B flat and A standard as well. A little grit and some tremolo?! Yes please.
I bought this one… 25ish years ago but I got her out and back in to playing shape tonight. I stripped off everything that was reasonable to strip off, cleaned everything, tightened everything and oiled the fretboard twice (it’s been 20 years since I oiled this thing), hen put on a new set of strings. I’ll let it sit overnight and retune it before I get started on relearning my chord shapes.
That’s a beauty!! Second two numbers in the serial should be the manufacturing date of you care
I haven’t dug in to it yet, just fiddled around the past few days. I can remember my basic major chord shapes but I couldn’t tell you what chord I was playing. After almost a year on bass, I don’t know how people can play regular guitars with these teensy little strings ![]()
Those tiny garrottes bring the real finger pain. Bass is nothing in comparison to the fingertip pain of the first few weeks on guitar.
I was already planning on picking up a jazz master at some point in the future. Really dig the look of these.
Antigua? blech
Personally, I’d probably opt for the blue or red. I’m not much of an antigua fan. Those headstocks look pretty rad though.
