I bought a new Glarry acoustic bass, and need to get the frets back in their dedicated slot

Damn near every single one of the frets aren’t seated in their dedicated slots completely. Would you use the hammer in the picture. If that’s all you had?

Outside of the frets, and the fretboard being dryer than the dessert. I truly like her. She sounds amazing whether it’s an unplugged gig or an electric gig. Plus I only paid $3.53 less than $80.

No, I would not use that hammer, at least as is. You want a lighter one, ideally like this:

with an option for a softer striker. At minimum I would go for a smaller or even a ball peen hammer or something and then some padding over the fret wires. You don’t want to flatten the fret tops while setting them.

This how much my brass hammer weighs. Which not too much over 7 ounces. While the Stew Mac dead blow fretting hammer…weighs 1/2 pound 8 ounces. I truly appreciate your help and support. But, if you need to a fretting hammer. But, my multitool hammer is all. Plus as long as you be extremely careful while using it. It would definitely work in a pinch.:v:

It’s not the mass but the hammer surface hardness that is important. Unless the frets are stainless steel (which are expensive) the fretwire is usually a copper-nickel compound - so not very hard. If you hit it with a steel hammer, it will dent.
If you only have a steel hammer, put a piece of hard plastic or hard timber on the fretwire and hit that.

I can understand that. I did use that multi hammer. I wasn’t smacking with everything I had. I was just lightly tapping each fret. Didn’t do any damage at all to the 19 frets nor to the fret fretboard. I truly appreciate your concern.

I did make one critical mistake. I really despise the original tuning keys. So I removed them. Then was working on installing these.

I had to drill out the own teen fake holes to get these to fit. I used the biggest step drill I had not thinking. Well I end up drilling the hole a little bit too big

So I had to donate some of my Luthier tools. I’m glad I got these router tools from Temu to it ain’t that damn much. Well I got it fixed I’m just letting the glue dry and now I got to get dressed and clean up a little bit and get ready to head out for tonight so thank you very much y’all have fun and I’ll be on here throughout the night or something right on man thank you
