In the Navy each watch makes an entry in the ships log, and in the US Navy there’s a tradition for the new year to do it in verse.
From the USS Constellation
This pier, I know it very well;
I watch it as a New Year’s bell
Peals out a glad refrain tonight,
Of New Year’s goals, of hope and right,
Of wars we will not have to fight.
’Tis Constellation moored this night,
With standard lines doubled, we sit just right.
Our starboard side is to the pier,
Berths Mike and November, we’re tied right here,
To welcome in the bright new year.

Have a HAPPY NEW YEAR y’all…. I know, I haven’t posted here a lot in the last year or so, but I do stop by occasionally….
Been a busy year for me…. Played with three different groups to start with, dumped one, then started with another…. My resolution for this New Year is to just play in one and have FUN doing it…. Being in my 70’s is starting to take it’s toll and you can only do so much. I have however found that playing more bass line blues does help calm the nerves - and settle the spirit….
Did manage to upgrade my gigging gear with a Fender Rumble 500 amp pushing four 10” eminence speakers outta dual cabs, and since I also play solo and duo with backing tracks have added a Harbinger PA system. Creating and playing covers on this forum has helped me tremendously in this endeavor…. Moises is my best friend (along with Garage Band) when it comes to making my backing tracks…
For Christmas my wife Connie (50 years with her) got me 3 sets of D’Addario Nylon tapewound strings…. All I can say is DAMN!!! Gone are the days of using a sponge under the strings by the bridge…. Smooth as melted butter on momma’s corn bread muffins!! Downside is that the damn things’ll damn near drain a retirement investment if ya ain’t careful….
Enough said…… Still think of Y’all and the good ‘ol days when this hangout all started……
