What configuration have you found to be ideal for your B2B lessons to be able to clearly hear the lesson information as well as your playing?
For me it was my PC (I have two big monitors) and my PC speakers (which are quite good/loud) and my amp.
However, there are lots of good configurations.
You can get an inexpensive DAI and run your bass straight into your PC or tablet/phone and hear both thorugh your it, and use headphones or good speakers, no amp needed.
One thing that is important to note is that you don’t want to do your lessons too quietly. This will tend to have you overcorrect by plucking too hard to hear yourself.
I did this far too often in my starting days and would wonder why my hand would cramp/tire so easily…
Play it loud and proud!
Audio out from laptop into Zoom B1 Four, bass into Zoom B1 Four, headphone out from Zoom B1 Four into headphones. Other practice amps instead of the Zoom should work as well
I have a laptop speaker (Marshall!) to the left and a Laney mini bass amp to the right so I can hear both what I play and sound from the lessons. Also I use a Blackstar travel bass - I find the compact size more comfortable when sitting in front of the lapop than a full size bass.
I appreciate the input!
I’m gonna follow Mike’s setup with my amp. I can use what I’ve already got🤙🏼
I sincerely appreciate you guys!
I started out using the AUX In of the Fender 15 amp I got with my Squire starter kit to listen to the lessons while playing. I used the headphones out, not the speaker. Later on I got a DAI which works just fine if you play using headphones.
I have a cable going from Apple Lightning to 1/8" stereo, so that I can plug my iPhone into my Zoom and play along with songs. I never considered going from the PC audio out into the Zoom. That would make things so much easier.
I had my bass run into my audio interface and playback from PC so I could hear everything through my headphones
Yep same here
I have various configurations. My Ampeg RB110 has an aux in so I can plug the bass in as normal and the output from the PC into the aux so both come through on the amp. Or I have Studio Monitors which also have an aux input so can plug the PC into them (which is how they are normally set up as just PC speakers) and then just have the bass plugged into the amp. Or I have a Focusrite DAI and then put the output from that into the studio monitors, which then includes both the pc sound and the bass. Then I also have a preamp which can go straight into the studio monitors!
Which I do tends to depend on what I’ve currently got plugged in when I start the lesson!
