If you're looking for a new light bass

Check out the new basses from Sire!

A multiscale headless? What??? How did I not know the F10 was a thing?

This is going to get expensive for a few people

Thomann will have the largest selection of new Sires, likely in the next few weeks.

It looks like an M7 in black:

Thanks @Fennario, I figured it out then deleted my post.
Do you have an opinion on the M7?

The Sire M series is uniformly great. I own an M5 that I love. It has every single feature of the higher-priced M7, except for the fancy top wood on the body. That’s literally the only difference between the M5 and M7 models.

My M5 is Swamp Ash with an Ebony fretboard on a 5-piece laminated neck. It has really great hardware, killer humbuckers that can be split single/serial/parallel, and Sire’s Heritage-3 preamp. It’s a tone monster, premium bass at a crazy-low price point. I got mine from Thomann a couple of years ago, delivered for $674 (I paid shipping, but no custom fees or sales tax). What’s not to love?

Here’s Lobster’s take from before. BTW, mine is a natural finish like the one Lobster reviews (and owns).

Z7 vs M7, which would be your pick?

Reminds me of a 70s ski boat

That F10 6 string is very tempting, I can only resist things for so long

Depends what kind of body style and sound you like, the Z looks and sound like a music man stingray and the M is a more modern sounding double cut bass with as many tonal options as one could want (possibly too many)

I’ve got an M7 5 string swamp ash and i love it!

The M5/M7 is more versatile than the Z7. I went for a Sire M5 over a Ray34, if that’s any indicator of preference.

Again, the M7 is solely top wood and finish bling. If that’s what you like, go for it, although it is a few hundred more than the equivalently built and featured M5.

I know what you mean. The F10 5 is the only fiver that’s ever tempted me to go beyond four strings. It’s a totally premium bass in every way that really speaks to me. If Sire ever offers an F10 4-string…well…:smirk:

The did a better job on the headstock too… the M series looks like they didn’t quite fit the blanks and they had to chop a corner off

The headstock is actually more like a legacy Mayones bass design.

It’s like a mirrored fbass headstock too

I think I really love the exposed grain look but only on the painted ones. REALLY cool they are that light. I’d love to try one out.

Spalted maple, check
SingleCut body, check

this is just an awesome bass.

It is a superb bass, directly aimed at Fodera-philes. I’d love to have one, especially at that tempting low-ass price/quality ratio!

Thomann makes the prospect verrrry tempting. My finger actually not only hovered but trembled over the ā€œAdd to Cartā€ button…:face_with_peeking_eye: :scream:

That’s actually Poplar Burl, not Spalted Maple. Premium stuff, baby. :+1:
