Immerrock VR learning/game tool

Immerrock (no affiliation) offers a VR app that allows you to play your guitar/bass along with a lot of popular songs and the list is growing all the time

Here I’m doing one of the tutorials playing Ode to Joy. on my Quest 3. Excuse the messy desk. There is no excuse.

At this time the app does not register your note, but that update is coming in July. I’ll be beta testing it.
For now you just play along where the fretboard and the rails (I think that’s what they call them) tell you to play.
I look forward to see how this progresses. It’s currently $15 CDN in early access.

I’ll update here when I’m able to record a more structured video

Just tried to watch it, Wow did I move my head a lot. Sorry, nodding to the beat.

Haha I got motion sickness :face_vomiting:

Interesting concept.

Ya, Sorry about that.
It is a very cool experience when you have the headset on.
I’ll try again with less bopping.

i have never tried VR. need to go to best buy and try one and see if it makes me nauseous or not. my main obsession, the warning put out a VR concert that you can still get for either (i’m not sure which it was) halloween or dia de los muertos a few years ago and they dressed up in sugar skull makeup. you can watch the non VR videos on youtube. this alone makes we want to get one of course, but i fear it will be another high priced toy that gathers dust. this game looks really cool.

I had a similar concern initially but can be used for quite a range of things apart from just game playing .
There are some great immersive videos that take you round the great sites of the world, museums and ancient temples.
The game playing is more physical too, combat stuff especially. It isn’t a one trick pony.

anybody got any thoughts on the cheaper hi-def version vs the expensive 4K one? normally i wouldn’t even think that the higher price would be justified but seeing as how your eyes are right up on the screen it could be a real difference maker in this case. i’m sure there are youtube reviews comparing this, just curious.

Before the Quest 3 I had the 1 and there was a huge difference. Mostly due to the colour video when not in a game. The passthrough is your room through the goggles.

The 3s is supposed to be great. Just not as high def as the 3. You may get a bit of screendoor effect but I’m sure your brain would get used to it pretty quickly. At least in my Quest 1 it did, and that was worse than the 3s.

I actually tried a VR headset sometime back in 93 - 94 at a demo in the Cybernetics lad at uni. It was a massive great thing that weighed a couple of kilos (maybe it had some old CRT screens at the front) but you put it on and … pow … you were in something like a Dire Straits video.

I knew this was going to be the next big thing and everybody was going to be wearing one by the year 2000.

They are lighter, stick an extra battery pack on and you definitely know that it is there but with more comfortable headbands available, OLED screens and better weight ditribution (extra battery pack goes at the back balancing out the weight more) it is quite easy to lose yourself in other worlds for a couple of hours.
Biggest problem I find is heat build up around the eyes and eyes drying out, get eye drops ahead of time if you are thinking of this
