I also want a new IEM, and am still deciding between Sennheiser IE 100 Pro, Shure SE215 and china IEMsā¦
Love my Sennheiser but ChiFi is definitely the way to go. Obviously the custom molded would be best for musicians but there are so many kinds of ear tips now you donāt really need to spend that kind of custom money. I spent $200+ on the audiologist for the ear casting/ 3D files on top of the iems and while they fit better they donāt sound better than most ChiF.
I tried this with a CCA CRA+. Itās the most terrible in-ear that I ever had!
There is so much choice. I am happy with my Teufel Move Pro. They sound really quite OK ā¦ but keep falling out of my ear, when playing. In fact this is the reason for many failed cover recordings currently.
So Iām looking for a 50ā¬ solution that sounds great and does not go for a road trip while playing ^^
Important to have a good seal. If itās loose in your ear, the bass will sound weak. If the IEMs donāt fit well, try differently shaped/sized tips! Iāve put both triple-flange and foam tips on with my cheap chi-fi IEMs, and was impressed with how large the bass sounded.
I purchased those after you mentioned them a few months ago. They were uncomfortable and fell out too
Now I use double silicon tips, which seal greatā¦ And push themselves out after some playing
Havenāt tried that but I canāt say that Iām surprised. Just because they have the same model name with the plus it doesnāt mean that itās the original recipe with additional benefits.
The CRA was great because it was quite balance and it quite similar tuning to the high end tuning profile. Intentional? I doubt it, more like an accidental. It seems like companies just make new models every week hoping that one would become a hit and they can cash out.
Crisps, clean audiophile tuning is a welcome treat on a few listening sessions to me. I donāt have a trained ears so a balanced tuning with less bass but good definition can provide a pleasant experience āoccasionallyā.
For $54 get the zero red. It comes with impedance adapter that boost the bass when you want more.
Thatās one of the first Chi-Fi I bought probably more than a decade ago. Itās still good today but can be picky with sources I plug this into my Roland TD 17 KVX module and itās just piercingly sharp. The sibilance is just off the charts.
If you like good bass with good definition may be give a good dynamic driver or pure Balanced Armature IEM a try. Itās easier to tune from the manufacturer so you usually get a decent result. Iām a big fan of DD.
They wouldnāt be my choice for mixing/mastering or listening to music where I want a flat FR but I enjoy them for playing bass and theyāre very comfortable. The cable options are nice as well.
I paid $38 cad for mine and Iāve used them regularly for almost 4 years so I certainly canāt complain about them
