Hah, yep.
Really sad. David Crosby really had an impact on more than just music. We would not have a RATM without a CSNY
Lol that was me. I called my father when I was about 25. I’d left home at 18 and straight into the military.
I asked what he knew about domestic gas water heaters. As the one in my house was broken.
He said "Well luckily for you I’ve been reading up on all sorts of things. I’ve become somewhat of a voracious reader. Encyclopedias, technical manuals, DIY books, you name it I’ll read it. I’m averaging about 8 hours a day just reading.
I said “Why are you reading so much?”
He said “Ahh well, when you left home you knew absolutely fucking everything. So for the past 7 years I’ve been trying to catch up to you!”
I like George Bernard Shaw’s observation - “Youth is the most precious thing in life; it is too bad it has to be wasted on young folks.”
I think of this quote all the time.
david was foreshadowing his death for a while in interviews. whatever was going on with him, i don’t think it was unexpected. shame.
Well Shoot - Sure hope that his passing doesn’t open the flood gates of this era - I am still rocked over Jeff Beck and now Crosby
Bummer
The Byrds and Crosby, Stills and Nash, and CSNY will live forever in rock history. As a founding and important member of each, his voice and songwriting reflected and helped define a generation, and beyond. His musical legacy will live on. RIP, man.
RIP Van Conner, bassist and co-founder of the Screaming Trees…

Goes without saying, way too young.
Mark Lanegan has been super active and seeing him reminds me of Screaming Trees from time to time.
43 years old
Another Screaming Trees member on the 17th
Just as his career was getting started
RIP Marshall.
Marshall Tucker passed away
He was a blind piano tuner and the band named themselves after him. He really didn’t have any other part in the band. The story is on my site with my cover of Heard it in a Love Song.
I’ll agree… splurged as a young, underpaid Soldier on tickets for BB King I couldn’t afford. This was the late 90’s and I figured, this old dude just can’t keep touring - now or never. Of course then he toured until 2014! But I never regretted those tickets, and the stars of time/place/circumstance may never have aligned again giving me a chance to see him live.
Loved the Screaming Trees. Way too young.
Agreed. I’ve seen Iron Maiden three times, but each time I buy tickets because you never know. This past year I took my 11-year old with me, she’s now a lifelong fan.
I made the mistake of waiting till next year to see Tom Petty. Well, there will never be a next year.
RIP
